Plantar warts are considered to be one of the most common types of skin infections. Of all the different types of warts this type of warts is usually found at the bottom of the foot. Plantar warts are caused by the human papilloma viruses (HPV). There are more than 100 types of human papilloma virus. Some of these viruses may cause different types of warts such as warts on your hands, fingers or genital areas. The HPV causes plantar warts commonly found on the feet of the individual.
The HPV is contagious and it can spread from:
• Person to person
• Foot to foot of the same person
• The blood of a wart
In a few cases the HPV may die within a few years. Some die within the 1-year to the 2-year bracket. If this happens the warts will disappear completely.
