  • Hi anonymous,

First of all, yes, it is possible to get chlamydia without having sex if you're sharing sex toys with a partner. But it is more commonly transmitted through sex.

Secondly, it is possible to have chlamydia for a long time without getting any symptoms at all.

Has your boyfriend been tested too? If he hasn't been tested, he should be. If the two of you have had sex or shared sex toys, there's a chance he could have the infection as well. If you haven't had sex, but you aren't his first sexual partner, then he should still get tested before having sex again to be on the safe side.

Getting tested is the only way to know if you have chlamydia or not. Even if you don't have symptoms, it's important to get the right treatment (antibiotics) and not have sex until you have been re-tested and got the all clear.

Hope that helps. If you need to know more about STIs and getting treated you can find info on sites like this one: https://www.treated.com/sti/chlamydia
