Bleeding After Sex

For the past 2 years I have been bleeding after my husband and I have sex. I have regular pap smears and they always come back negative. They have also done 2 ultrasounds to check for other causes such as cysts and have found nothing. It is starting to get really frustrating and is hurting our sex life. Has anyone else had this problem? Any information would be helpful.

  • Yes, I have this problem. I also have very painful periods and a history of functional ovarian cysts. The blood is only of a trace amount. I was just here to learn more about endometriosis, which is tonight's guess! Post if you learn anything! Thanks

  • Also, I took the liberty of repeating this question on the I need a diagnosis forum located at the top of the page. That section gets a lot more traffic. I hope you dont mind.

  • endrometrosis is when the lining of the uterus is swollen and your periods back up in you even if you bleed out on a pad. a Laparscopy is the only way to Dx it. do you have pelvic pain during intercourse? Do you bleed alot during your monthly? and for a longer time than usual? The only thing to help is to be on a birth control pill, or get pregnant. Alot of women found to have endrometroisis, their mothers have taken estrogen back in the 60-70 to help them get pregnant and usually the first born girl of the family has it, but any female can. I had it and it leads to miscarriages and infertility. It causes adhesions to the lungs, bowels, appy. When mine got worse, i had miscarriages, painful sex, bleeding at the end for about 27 days a month and adhesions around my colon because i could feel painfull bowel movements. and cyst on my ovaries. you just need to have a scope done which is an outpt where they put it through your belly button and to the right of your stomach and look around and lazer any adhesions and take biopsy and lazer spots off, then get pregnant if that is what you are looking for or go right on the pill. They can have you go on a pill that will keep you from having periods the same pill you would take to make you start, you just skip it and start as a new month so you wont have a period. hope this helps:)

  • it turns out that a vag ultrasound that i had determined that i had borderline adenomyosis (called to see results from 2 months ago)...i see dr on monday....i bleed only trace amounts and have no pain from sex (i do have a tilted uterus tho which may be why i'm spared that). now i have to decide between removal of uterus and whatever hormonal medical suggestion he comes up with i guess
