abnormal pap

Does anyone have experience with the DX of parakaratosis, this is what showed up on an abnormal pap 2x's in a row, no real answers from the MD's.

  • hi, my name is katy and i also got a diagnosis of parakaratosis from my pap smear. did you find anything more about it? did you get any treatment? i hope you dont mind me asking...just wondering what i am in for.thankskaty

  • Parakeratosis is "Retention of nuclei in the cells of the stratum corneum of the epidermis, observed in many scaling dermatoses such as psoriasis and subacute or chronic dermatitis."Basically the first part is talking about skin cells and how the top layer of skin is dead and should have no nuclei. It looks like this conditions is pretty benign and probably isn't anything to worry too much about.
