Occassionaly I used to get short of breath for no reason, get dizzy and start to black out. I'd have to lie down and wait it out.
This past month I've had this happen every day. My doctor gave me allergy pill but they're not working. Any idea what it could be?

  • Check your blood sugar. I had those same symptoms which are sometimes syptoms of low blood sugar. Eat some carbs and see if your breath comes back. If so, you might consider a low glycemic diet.

  • Sounds like athsma. But it's hard to go off so little information. Do you have chest pain? I would see a doctor. Just be open with him/her and describe exactly how you feel.

  • Every time I go to the doctors I forget to ask him about my strange symptoms. Sometimes I get chest pain, like a tightness in my ribs or anywhere else on my chest. And when I run tas fast as most of the kids in my class I can hear my heart beat really loudly and it's really hard to breath. I asked my dad about this, and he said he had it as a kid too (he's an x-ray technician and also does many more things in the hospital). If I'm sitting and get up, or when I'm walking I feel really dizzy, my vision starts to turn black, and my legs feel really weak. A few times it was so bad I was on the floor. I don't think I have ever passed out from it. My gym teacher says I could possibly have asthma from the tightness in my chest, and my dad has it too. My dad has both symptoms. He has asthma, do I? And I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but my hands and feet are always cold. They usually turn purple too, even after I've run around the gym a few times to get my blood blowing, my skin is all blotchy and my hands, mostly fingers, are purple! I'm really confused, please help me.
