I had every test under the sun to rule all other reasons out. It was a second opinion from an ent who suggested it was neurogenic and started treating me for it. Gabapentin worked for a while (2 weeks or so). My cough would come on suddenly and it felt like a bee stinging me in my throat. Absolutely horrible time in my life! Tussionex was my life saver.. I thought many times it would be better to be six feet under than to have to live one more day with that horrific cough. I know all about the countless trips back and fourth to all the specialist, all the test and being put under. The feeling of hoping they find something and the disappointment when the test come back normal. When I was given Tussionex and it worked I was so relieved and so mad at the same time. Why did I suffer all this time and not one Dr would give me this common cough medicine? My family Dr explained to me that everything else had to be ruled out as a possible cause. It could have been something very serious. My cough is not completely gone. Certain foods will make it flare up and laying on my side will make me cough. Since taking tussionex I have not had any extreme coughing fits though...I'm happy. No more ******g myself, broken blood vessels in my eyes and throwing up from coughing so violently. Life is not 100% normal, but I'll take it :)Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
