Hi
Three days ago I smoke some grit weed (Cannabis sprayed in silica dust). I smoked less than 1/8 of an ounce until I noticed it was covered in silica. Since then I have had a slightly irritated throat. I was wondering do I have a much of a chance of developing silicosis in the years to come because of this ? Does the silica have to be inhaled on a regular basis for silicosis to develop or can one high level exposure cause it ? Note I rarely smoke (once a month) therefore this could be the reason for my throat. I am a slight hypercondriac.

Thanks

It has been found to leadto what you fear. With that said, the most common cases are found bythose who have been exposed to large amounts over long periods of time. That does not go without saying about "acute" level. This level is rarebut can happen. If your throat irritation lasts for more than a couple of days go see a doctor.
