I'm a 20 year old male with great overall health, I haven't been sicker than just sniffles since I was a kid. I got this cough maybe 1.5 months ago. It started as just a dry cough but lately I've been coughing phlegm. I was smoking cigs for 2 weeks around the time the phlegm started (2-5 cigs a day) so I think it's fair to say that's what caused the phlegm? Maybe?

Sometimes maybe once a day I'll have pretty bad coughing attacks that make it very difficult to breathe to the point where I am swallowing air, which makes me burp, and wheezing. They usually happen when I am doing something active like running around with my dog or hiking.

I have not seen a doctor because I don't have any health insurance and still believe it might pass but any advice would be great.

  • I have had a chronic cough for ages now and in the last few months I get a lot of phlegm which is awful as it just seems to be stuck, it wont come up, it wont go down and makes me wretch and sometimes be sick, usually in public which is really embarassing I take inhalers for asthma so dont think thats the cause.I just wondered if anyone else gets this and if its something related to the EDS.
