Hi all,
Need some advice on a medical matter.
Have been experiencing some cough in August 2010 which my primary care provider says is due to hypersensitive airways. The cough was non-productive and has since improved. However, since then I have noticed a soft wheeze when I breath out of an open mouth. This only occurs around the end of the breath when I breath out more forcefully and never heard on normal breaths through the nostril or mouth. The wheeze seems to be coming from the throat area. It is intermittent and doesn't affect sleep or activities. I can still go jogging. Occasionally I feel an urge to cough to see if this clears the wheeze. I tried self medicating with one pill of prednisolone which did not clear the soft wheeze.

I had a chest x ray in august 2010 which was normal. Does anyone know whats wrong?

  • Assuming no history of asthma, I would first suspect something environmental such as an allergy. Stop self-medicating with steroids; perhaps try an OTC anti-histamine and talk to your GP or allergist.
