Hi, a couple of days ago, I was on the couch reading a book, and I suddenly begain having problems breathing, like I couldn't get a deep breath and my lungs are starved for oxygen.

I had a very similar episode 10 years ago, which eventually went away on it's own.

Like 10 years ago, I went to the ER, where they conducted a battery of tests, to no avail.

They did chest XRays, EKG, blood testing, and found nothing wrong. Meanwhile, I am on day 4 of suffering.

I have an appt on monday with a pulmonary specialists, but I am afraid he is going to strike out too.

I am not sure if they ruled out anemia during the testing, so I took some iron supplements last night, but that hasn't kicked in, at least not yet.

The ER prescribed me an anti-anxiety med, but that doesn't appear to help either.

My only other symptoms are slight weakness in my legs, and I am rather pale.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated, I have 2 little one's at home, and I need to get over this!

  • I am the same age, female and have 2 sons. I have the exact problem you described except mine has been going on for 2 weeks. I went to the ER w/ what I thought was asthma attack. They said I had pluresy. I have since had nuclear stress test, lung testing, xray, catscan and tons of blood work. they thought I may have a blood clot in my lungs, but thankfully I do not. The quality of life the past 2 weeks is very poor. I am week, tired and out of breath constantly. I feel as though I just cannot get enough oxygen. The doctor prescribed Xanax, but it knocked me out for 3 hours, and I after I woke up I felt the same as before. I am going to try to get in to a Chiropractor tomorrow, just to get some relief while waiting on these test results.
