My wife has been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis. She is in horrible pain most of the day and night. Tonight she woke up at 4:00 am with a really bad pain in her chest. She asked me for an aspirin because she did not know if was the A.S. or her heart. Most mornings she wakes up and says it fells like someone sat on her chest all night. During the day she has very little energy and needs a heating pad on her chest. She has pins and needles throughtout her body. Her Dr put her on Hydrocodone 10/325 for pain and wants her to start on Embrel

Does this sound familar to anyone? and does anyone know about Embrel?

Thanks

Jode

  • Yes, this type of pain looks familiar to me (I also hav AS). As from my experience, it turned out has nothing to do with heart problems, since the heart mediactions I was trying to take in early days of my ignorance just did not help. Neither any heart tests revealed any problems.Usually this pain occurs by either temporarily stopping my anti-arthritis mediactions (pain reliever that helps me is Indomethacin) due to the stomach problems AND abrupt changes in the weather (e.g. a sudden cold front comes in). The only workaround I found is a good night sleep followed by the return to normal dosage of my anti-arthritis pain reliever as soon as it is possible. Apparently this pain originates from the spinal column and somehow gets spreaded to ribs in the chest area or even to the heart muscles, which mimics a regular heart onset but in reality has very little (if any) to do with the heart. But remember, that each case and symptoms are very distinctive and really individual. Perform the tactic "try and see" what helps and what does not, and you will gradually detect your case for yourself. If you need to contact me, please feel free to email: mo11ak2 BasicISP net-Andrew

  • Information about medicins 10 325 Hydrocodone (related to codeine) is in a class of drugs called narcotic analgesics. 10 325 hydrocodone is used to relieve moderate-to-severe pain and a cough suppressant The combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone comes as a tablet, capsule, and liquid to take by mouth. It usually is taken every 4-6 hours as needed. Another medications in the same type are Vicoprofen this is supplied in a fixed combination tablet form for oral administration. VICOPROFEN combines the opioid analgesic agent, hydrocodone bitartrate, with the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) agent, ibuprofen. Hydrocodone acts on the central nervous system and smooth muscle tissue, slowing the central nervous system. It is not clear exactly how ibuprofen works to ease pain. Lortab this combination of drugs is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. Lortab is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist Tylenol #3 Tylenol 3 is a narcotic pain medication that contains both Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Codeine. Codeine is a prescription strength narcotic pain reliever and Tylenol is a very effective over-the-counter medicine. When the two are mixed, the pain relief is greater than if only one was taken. • I don't know anything about her symptoms or the disease she has been diagnosed with, but I know that Enbrel is most commonly used to treat Rhuematoid Arthritis. I was on it for a while, and stayed sick with infections a lot. Make sure she stays away from crouded shopping malls and things like that during flu season, and if she does become sick with an infection, tell her to call the Enbrel hotline immediately so that they can document the infection. She should discontinue use of the Enbrel while having an infection, and can then start it back once the infection is gone. Hope this helps. My wife has been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis. • i read all your article and i see you touched interesting themes like drugs, thats the reason because i want talk today about the VICOPROFENthe most important things about vicoprofenVicoprofen, that drug is supplied in a fixed combination tablet form for oral administration. VICOPROFEN combines the opioid analgesic agent, hydrocodone bitartrate, with the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) agent, ibuprofen tha means is a semisynthetic and centrally acting opioid analgesic. Vicoprofen is a combination of an opioid analgesic (pain reliever related to narcotics, hydrocodone) and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (ibuprofen). Both medications are effective against pain. It is estimated that one tablet of Vicoprofen is as effective as two tablets of Tylenol #3 (acetaminophen 300 mg plus codeine 30 mg). Vicoprofen was approved by the FDA in 1997. This medication is used for short-term relief of pain. It is not recommended for such chronic conditions as arthritis. This medication is taken by mouth, usually one tablet every 4 to 6 hours as necessary for pain. Dosage should not exceed 5 tablets per day. Treatment is for 10 days or less unless otherwise directed. Follow all instructions exactly to receive good pain relief. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if your pain is not relieved. Take this medication with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this drug. After a period of time, this medicine may not work as well. If this occurs, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Prolonged or excessive use of this product may cause dependency (or addiction). Do not increase your dosage or use more often than directed. In the same calification we can find drugs likeHydrocodone is habit forming. It is possible become physically and/or psychologically dependent on the medication. Do not take more than the prescribed amount of medication or take it for longer than is directed by your doctor. Withdrawal effects may occur if hydrocodone and acetaminophen is stopped suddenly after several weeks of continuous use. Your doctor may recommend a gradual reduction in dose. Lortab, this is Hydrocodone (related to codeine) is in a class of drugs called narcotic analgesics. It relieves pain, the Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of hydrocodone. Together, acetaminophen and hydrocodone are used to relieve moderate-to-severe pain. Lortab may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide. or Tylenol #3 to relieve pain, allergies, and cold- and flu- related symptoms. All of the Tylenol brand products contain acetaminophen. Allergy and cold products also contain dextromethorphan, pseudoephedrine, and other nasal decongestants, antihistamines, and expectorants. A class of stronger pain relievers contains codeine.you can find more information about these themes and another ones in our website www.crdrx.comHave a great day

  • I have used narcotic analgesics for the first time in this residential drug treatment center that I know from a reference found in here a month or two ago, i really do not remember when. The problem, as I have found out from there is that they are not enough and that attention care and treatment have to be combined with that.
