Are the genes known that lead to cerebellar ataxia?
If an ovarian stem cell were converted into an egg cell which was then made diploid by parthenogenesis-at that time I guess genes could be added
that would correct whatever is wrong. Who does this work, and where could I get more information about transgenic parthenotes yielding stem cells used to treat cerebellar ataxia.?

  • I am 17 years old and I think I have ataxia, I have had problems walking for the last 3 years and I have a history of a rare disease called histiocytosis. I am not sure whether it is this disease that has traveled to my cerebellum or if it is ataxia that has developed. I am looking for a cure anyway or some way to reverse the effects it has done, I'm wondering how effective stem cell research has been for someone who has ataxia who has had this treatment, has it given back the abilities you had before ataxia developed or has it just slowed down the progression? I would really appreciate if anyone could get back to me in relation as I don't want to be stuck living this downgraded life for as long as I live. Many thanks
