Arnold Chiari Malformation is frequently associatated with developmental delay. What about a person who physically develops normally or even early(walks at age 9 months, reads at age 3, IQ in 140s) yet seems to have an emotional developmental delay. Have any experienced this? Have there been studies? What about borderline personality disorder and chronic clinical depression with little or no relief with medication and psychotherapy?

Can neurologic anomilies affect the mental and emotional? Am I doomed to never find answers to 20 to 30 year old problems? Am I fated to life my life alone and in a vacumn since I find it difficult to cultivate and maintain relationships of all kinds, including my family's? Who can I turn to for help when everybody thinks there is not a ***n thing wrong with me?

  • Dear Beth: I can't believe no one ever suggested Asperger's Syndrome. It is an autistic spectrum disorder. My daughter has it. She is bright and normal in every way but socially and emotionally immature, in fact inept. There is so much info on it out on the web. Also, a website called WrongPlanet that is a welcoming place for anyone on the spectrum.Hope this helps. There are so many others out there, believe me you are in good company.
