Hi I've never done any of this before but I really need some advice. For the past 2 weeks I started having really bad headaches and new pains in my back and several other places but I refused to call the doctor because I'm a first time mom so I just figured it was normal. Well I finally made it to my regular appointment and my pulse was 96 and my blood pressure was 128/70. My pulse is normally in the 70s and my blood pressure is usually around 106/60. They also found protein and white blood cells in my urine. They sent me home and told me to rest and call with any other problems. 2 days later I went back to the doctor because the headaches were alot worse and I was having severe pain in my right upper abdomen. My blood pressure was 150/110 and my pulse was 130...They took it again about 30 minutes later and it was 140/100 but this time there was no protein in my urine. They sent me home to rest, even though thats what I'd been doing. I've been monitoring my blood pressure at home and my pulse stays in the 100s, at rest and my blood pressure, at rest, is creeping up into the 130s. The second I get up my pulse jumps to the 140s and my blood pressure hits the 140s-150s/70-80s. Can I please get some peoples opinons? Thanks

  • I had perfect blood pressure with my son and then within a week or two, it skyrocketed. Then they found the protein in my urine. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and had to be induced 6 weeks before my son was due. Take care of yourself!

  • Definately sounds like preeclampsia. I had this and knew I had had it for some time while I was pregnant with my son. I had numerous tests and the doctors / midwives danced around whether or not they believed I had it. Throughout my pregnancy I had protein in my urine (up to +++3) and a high blood pressure (ie. 142 / 98). I really don't know why it took them so long to diagnose me. Anyway, I was diagnosed at 41 weeks and then went into an emergency induced labour. It sucked because I wasn't able to birth in the birth centre (wanted to use a birthing pool) but good because my induced labour only lasted 7 hours. Really what should of happened is that I would have been ideally diagnosed earlier and been booked in for an inducement at around 36 weeks. Preeclampsia can be quite serious, this is why they induce early and it must be done in a hospital. Good luck and huggssss hun, I know what your going through. Congrats on the pregnancy!!!!
