Hello!

I'm a 33 year old married woman who's never been pregnant. Recently, I've been experiencing pelvic pressure/discomfort for about 2 weeks. It started as follows:

8/3 period started; 8/6 ended
8/9 - had sex with husband
8/11 - abundant, clear mucus d/c with tiny specs of brownish blood, but in only the first bit (very, very slight) - never had d/c like this before!
8/12 - clear mucus continues
8/13 - clear mucus d/c tapers off, around this time or perhaps a day later pelvic pressure started mildly. Also, noticed increased urination and feeling of "bottomless stomach"

Pelvic pressure/discomfort makes wearing pants with waistbands or seatbelts uncomfortable. Noticed fleeting mild sharp pain in right ovary yesterday that has since stopped.

I took a home bacterial infection test (by vagisil) and nothing is wrong there.

No uti/bladder symptoms other than frequency.

2 hp tests showed negative, but period isn't due until around the 27th

Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts? I am confounded and dumbfounded. Dr. appt tomorrow AM.

Thanks!

  • Could be many things. I would get a urinalysis to rule out UTI (a vagisil bacterial test is not very accurate). You may need an ultrasound to rule out ovarian cysts, fibroids, or PCOS. Did you have a fever at any time? How are your bowel movements? How is your period in general? Do you have painful periods? Are you taking any birth control? Best wishesDOM

Best wishesDOM Dear AcuAnn, (I used your name as inspiration for my own, as I'm guessing we're in the same line of work).;) Thank you SO much for your reply!!! I read a lot of your advice and it is wonderful!! I'm so glad you are on here promoting wellness! I went to the Dr. I have a cyst on my right ovary, but I've ALWAYS had cysts (since age 17) and knew it was there before they even did the ultrasound (they cause sharp/shooting/fleeting pain). That is not causing my constant pressure discomfort. My urine was sent out for testing, but the Dr. didn't suspect that as the cause since I'm not experiencing any other related S+Sx. I have no cysts or fibroids other than the one I mentioned above. My period is 24-26 days cycle, 4 days, not heavy, no clots...minimal pms. I am hypothyroid...(TCM: kidney yang deficient) so even on Armour my temp tends to fall b/t 97.8-98.2. This week it's been hanging around 98.4-98.8. Yesterday I had TERRIBLE hot flashes and dizziness (not at all like a fever - no chills). Dr. thinks a cyst may have burst (but cannot rule out pregnancy - she didn't test me and told me to call if I miss my period in about 4 days). I continued to have pressure discomfort the day of the doctor's visit and into the next day slightly...I wonder why there is nothing to see re: burst cyst on u/s if I'm still in discomfort. I had one spec of blood about 3 days ago when pain started letting up. Pain seems to have subsided, but now I have hot flashes, mild headaches and dizziness. I do not have PCOS - endo checks all hormones for thyroid regularly and ruled that out early on. I am not on any form of bc. Took another hpt this AM and neg...my period is due in about 5 days. I really appreciate any feedback you may have regarding this crazy situation. :) Many thanks again for your reply!

  • Hi AcuMama and thank you for your very kind words!:) Have you been trying to get pregnant? I am just wondering because if you are trying sometimes you can get "false" or almost fake pregnancy symptoms in anticipation...this sounds crazy, but it happened to me several months before I actually got pregnant. Your symptoms of hot flashes and dizziness are a bit troubling. How is your appetite? Do you feel chilled after the hot flashes? Are you having any night sweats? You may still be pregnant as a HPT isn't going to pick up the pregnancy hormone that early. My suggestion is to ask for a blood test in a week or so. I don't think it sounds like a burst cyst (this is an emergency condition much like a burst appendix)...if you spike up a fever I would head to the ER. Otherwise I don't think this is causing your pain. Do you know the size of your cyst? Let us know how you are getting on!Best wishesDOM

Thank you for replying...it's so nice to have someone to talk to about this! To answer your question...no, we are not trying to get pregnant. Although, with the idea at hand we are warming up quite quickly to say the least! I have no nightsweats or chills and my temp yesterday was at 99. I am just H-O-T!!!! I had to put seed on PC6 b/c with the heat comes quesiness. I have to see my endocrinologist next week and bumped the appt up to this week b/c if I am preg, than my tsh levels need to be tested ASAP. So, he has ordered a blood test for preg also. I don't know how big my cyst is...I've had them so long...they just cause the occassional shooting/fleeting pain when I get my period or ovulate. Nothing too off-putting really. So, now the dizziness is mostly gone, the pressure pain is long gone, my period is due today and all I'm left with is headaches, nausea and sorry if tmi...but, boobs that I don't recognize as my own (even the nipples have changed). This is where I am at...if not pregnant, than what? I'll let you know as soon as I hear. Thanks again!
