  • #1. peer pressure is the biggest influence on a teen. the cause is most likely that the teen has been pressured into the drug by a person who has a real problem. some of these problems include. #1. to get away from reality. being a teen is really hard becuase your being introduced to the real world. some people can find a real escape in drugs#. to get messed up#3. ignorance#4. idiocy

  • depression is the underlying cause of tobacco smoking, alcohol abuse and drug taking.the commonest cause of depression by far is physical abuse by unloving parents.a subsidiary cause may be bereavement of a parent in the childs early life.this would include abandonment by a parent, too. but the main cause remains unloving neglectful and abusive parents.i am unable to comment further because i do not know your circumstances or motives for asking.

  • ok by "abuse" do you just mean use? and what kind of drugs are you talking about? you cant just lump them all into one category "drugs"people(not just teenagers) use drugs because theyre fun, and sometimes addictive.

  • i didnt apply the term "abuse"to drugs, but to children.perhaps you think we should refer to not to "child abuse" but to "child use".read it again.you may think you do not abuse drugs but they will probably abuse you.,and those who,for the moment, love you.ask the adult child of an alcoholic if it was use or abuse.ask the fetal alcohol syndrome child,if you can make him concentrate long enough ,if it was use or abuse.ask the child affected similarly in the womb by any number of street drugs ,perhaps before his mother thought she could be pregnant,if she is amused by your hair splitting word games.perhaps you are such a victim yourself. they often develop special relationships with the substances which did them harm.,and poor educational attainment, which is what you are exhibiting here,is a common characteristic of the crippled survivors of pre- natal child abuse.think harder.

  • do not write a research project on that subject unless you already have your own questions regarding it. you should understand it a little if youre going to do a project on it

Because, although I understand and sympathise with your defense of these abused children, he was asking 'gilerboy' (who originally posed the question) to clarify himself. Moron.

  • another reason would be because they dont read.a little reading can save a lot of suffering.cigarette smoking also, acts to legitimise other drugs.though it is actually --probably--more dangerous than all the rest put together.(perhaps excluding alcohol which destroys across generations) even heroin, the big adult terror, spontaneously remits in many cases after a decade or so .tobacco gives no second chances.the contributor who mentioned the connection between child abuse and addiction is spot on. the nature of the intervening processes is not entirely understood, and i have noted that it is frowned upon to think too clearly here,so i will confine myself to the obvious observation that the genuinely loved child will tend to be content with his state of mind.this is why the parents of addicts protest innocent incomprehension;in most cases i think they have a pretty good idea why junior has a needle in his arm.they just dont want it to come out.if we are going to mitigate this problem it will need to be done by thinking, therefore it seems odd to me to condemn a contribution because of intellect."cool"perhaps, but still odd. i think daddy cool feels his control slipping,or maybe there is a child involved there also.

DO IT. MAN YOU BETTER SMOKE MY WEED OR I WILL KILL YOU."now yes i do agree many kids do it to get messed up. Ignorance? that is an ignorant statement in its self because you calling them ignorant is you yourself being ignorant to their beliefs. Idiocy yah kids can be idiots by popping 12 xanax bars, which 90% are not going to do that they are going to be smart about it, but what about responsible marijuana users its doing more good for them than it is harm and its not idiotic.please check out www.norml.com i can not stress how important it is to me to let people know about the truth of marijuana the website has scientific reports from well respected universities and sources for every thing they say about the drug. very unlike most anti-marijuana sites who all say the same thing with no sources to back up their statementsmainly yes kids who pop pills and do "harmful" drugs are idiotic to a point, ignorant i would say not. i already said my position on peer pressure, and using it to get messed up and on to escape reality some adolescents do but not the majority. Peace.

  • I am a teen and I occasionally used both legal and illicit drugs. I use them because they can evoke some amazing feelings and unique experiences. However, I see a lot of people who abuse drugs by using them so much that it is damaging to their health and lifestyle. The main reason for this, I believe, is depression. I think that drug prohibition does not stop drug abuse, but focussing on helping people with depression would go a long way to reducing drug abuse, especially in teens.

  • I think that they abuse drugs because they think that they will fell much much better. They are in the clouds. But this is not true and if they try it once they are lost in my opinion. Every drug could create addiction even fosamax who is used to prevent and treat certain types of bone loss (osteoporosis).

  • i'll tell you why, because theres nothing better than waiting for a weekend after listening to a bunch of bollocks faced ****s during a hard monday to friday at either school or in the case of the late teens, a full time job, a bit of music, drugs, drink and madness with mates certainly redeems the situation to be able to do it all again every monday to friday. Im 20 and speaking as someone just out of there teens, theres worse things in the world. Personally i dont think drugs are for the weaker minded... too easily addicted or caught up in a paranoid trip that could last a long time. But if you have self control over the situation, bring on the ****in weekend!

  • Teenagers are very sensitive, they need much attention at home and in social groups. If they don't get this, they start doing stupid things like drugs, to harm themselves. They are attracted whit danger. I think this is the most stupid thing, concidering the teenagers rate in drug addiction treatment centers.

  • I have smoke marijuana since my 10th grade year in high school and have smoked it daily for at least a year of my life. i know it is addictive in its own ways but you can not classify this with other drugs. the reason i started to smoke it was not because of peer pressure or depression it was because i wanted to experience life from another angle. The same thing is true about my friends whom i did not smoke marijuana with until much later. Many smokers do not even smoke with other people which i would think makes the peer pressure idea not true. there is no way you can be ignorant to the fact that you are doing a drug, you do something by your own will. and as for getting messed up thats is completly true, children just want to have fun and it is fun. i think parents that drink infront of there kids have as much influence on it as there peers. i would much rather a world full of potheads then alcoholics.

  • teens do drugs because something once happend in there life that made them think that ciggaretes/weed is not that bad, some time after that thought something bad would happen in there life and they start acting different..this could be the death of a loved one, divorce of parents, ending of a relationship, fighting homosexuality ect ect this is when a teenager will turn to drugs they will try it and as soon as you do it your first time you will know if you are going to get adicted or not you either never want to touch it again, or you enjoy yourself, alot. the first time experience plays a huge influence on wether the user is going to turn out an adict or not

  • if you hate school so much, why do you go?dont you realise it can only lead to a job you will hate equally? if you really are so much better than the teachers you hate,(who are just limited human beings doing their best for you)then it should be relatively easy for you to solve all your problems by your own superior state of being.why dont you just do it?you may even end up a glittering contrast to the overburdened, abused, decent people to whom you feel so superior.perhaps you could write an opera,or a major poem cycle.for somebody of your refined sensibility, should be easy.just possibly---this is so exciting!---you could be a devine being come to earth !teach us, o mighty one !

  • ok ok people you guys need to get one thing straight, all these things u say about teens doing drugs because of peer pressure, depression, child abuse, and all those other things, i got to ask, where did you all here this crap from? I would really like to know. now im not saying that it coulnd't be a cause for them doing drugs. But i tell you now that those people that actualy do drugs for those reasons are not even a fraction of the total people who do drugs. and i more than likely have the answer why a lot of people whould say they do drugs for those reasons, its because they got cought with it and are trying to get some sympathy to make it look like they didnt make the dissicion to do it, someone,or an event, made them do it. and im not speaking out of my butt here i was arrested and put on probation for marijuana, their were 7 other kids in the J.A.C., and they all tried to pull the " my friends talked me into it" rutine when the counsiler asked why they do drugs, and when he got to me all i said was "i made the dissicion to do it,no one else had any kind of factor to why i smoke weed, i do it because i like to do it" P.S. one thing i dont get tho.....why is alcohol perfectly legal when so many people die each year because they were drunk, or because someone else was drunk. and why is weed illegal (correct me if im wrong) when i have not even heard someone died because someone else smoked some weed and went driving oh ya, and for all u people out their who thinks you get addicted to weed its bull crap. i smoked ever scince i was 13, and when i got arrested when i was 16 i was put on probation until i turned 18, and i got to say it was so much easier than someone trying to quit ciggerets, i had no problem and i smoked at least 4 times a day, im not going to lie tho i was a little irritated the first couple of days, but no more than if you were sitting in a room with someone making an annoying noise. but for all u nay sayers out their who say "ill never smoke weed" you need to listen to -Bone thugs N harmony Weed Song-
