I had a Fem Pop bypass for bad circulation. I caught an infection from the procedure.

After being discharged from the hospital approx. 2 wks. later my rt. foot started getting red and numb.
Went to hospital and the graft had to be removed.
My 3 biggest toes turned black and had to be amputated and 2 months later my TKR which was in for 10 yrs. doing fine had been contaminated and had to be taken out. After 5 months and IV anti bioctics another TKN was put back in and 10 months later the infection came back and again the TKR had to be taken out and 5 yrs. later I'm still in a wheelchair. I've been to Mayo clinic in Rochester and I was very close for the doctors to try a 3rd TKR but because of poor blood flow the decided not to go ahead with any procedure. Vascular surgery felt I had no good veins to try another Fem Popliteal bypass so any procedure was not recommended. Being in a DMV accident in 1973 and had my left leg amputated I refuse to let them amputate cause I know double amps. don't do well.
Any opinions or ideas would be appreciated.

  • Wow! Sorry to hear. I also had fem pop 4 years ago and my physical therapist thinks there is a problem since I have pain & nodes in my right groin. Told my PC few days ago & he ordered a MRI which I am waiting to have. I will keep you in my prayers.
