I've read discussion about extreme back pain. It lets up when getting out of bed. People have even tried different beds. My pain started to be so bad 5 months ago. I am 62 years old and did a lot of heavy work packing and moving the boxes, to prepare. In Nov. I couldn't get out to walk, couldn't do much. Had exrays to see if I had pelvic bone fracture(again), it hurts a lot. My main pain now seems to be in my hips (lower back) especially left hip. I know I do have arthritis and the pain is extreme in morning. I was so afraid to even get up, I used my (awful) cane to walk to bathroom. I couldn't straighten up, until later in the day. The Naprosyn helps some. I found what helps is to sleep sitting up in recliner. I had had to do this for pelvic bone fracture because of muscle spasms in leg. Also when I slept laying down, my muscles would tense up and make me stiffen in pain. Another thing that helps with all this pain is to go shopping and walk around for 30-40 minutes pushing a shopping cart. The cane is awful. They are going to get me a walker so I can get out and do needed walking to gain back strength and mobility. Also today I start a muscle relaxer. A walker sounds like giving up and going backward but I use to walk over an hour a day and felt great, that wasn't all so long ago either.

  • reading your description sounded a lot like my back feels when i eat chocolate and my gout flares up. have you been checked for gouty arthritis(high uric acid from offending foods)chocolate, mushrooms, shellfish and blue cheese seem to be my worse offending foods, making me think i have a broken bone it hurts so much...and muscle cramps at night, I was told by a doctor years ago, could be elievated by calcium, magnesium and zinc supplements taken at bedtime...worked for me.
