It's a reaction to the drink that ties with CFS I feel so sorry for you and I have been through a similar situation. At this stage the best idea is to get your Dr to refer you to a "General Specialist" these are doctors that don't specialise in one area so rarer things can be picked up by them. I reckon you're probably a bit depressed (not the diagnosis) but an anti-depressant might help a wee bit. Armitriptyle was my knight in shining armour when I knew I was right but one Dr (Dr Broom NZ) had me picked as a somatiser saying that the agony in both my calf muscles was because I couldn't get away from my stepfathers abuse which I knew was bull**** but the more you complain the more you fit the psch diagnosis.I moved country to live with my fiancee and a Dr picked up in 2days what the idiots in NZ coundn't!I have Chronic calf compression syndrome and had a fasciotomy in both legs but because the tools in NZ I had been 12 years undiagnosed whilst the pressure built up in my calves. I was given pain killers in NZ for the pain but I said it wasn't a psych thing, anyways because it had been 12 years my nerves "on a nerve conduction test" were crushed and now I am in pain till the day I die. I have the right meds to keep the pain down but I can't forgive Dr Alan Broom and the other Drs in NZ! Get a FRESH opinion and I hope you find out whats wrong and have it fixed, Pete

  • Sorry this is so long, but it should be worth the reading.Hopefully by now you have got some help for your condition. With referance to the pain, it is not pleaseant, but you need to think posative. You have got through it, and it may come again, and YOU WILL BE ABLE to get through it again ! And DO NOT FORGET that Accident & Emergeny are there if you need them (and they do have a good variety of stronger pain killers).Your sypmtoms are undestandable and I have been there.Consider your symptoms in groups. Some are time orientated, others are food / digestion orientated, and others are your biologial clock interacting.Because of the possible combinations, it might seem hard at the start. The shakes is possibly "the come down from adrenal activity" your reaction / abiltiy of the system is possibly impaired or over used and reaction is also proportionetly incorrect (sorry for the long words).Pulse rate - food with medium / high GI levels - adreanal also possibly "redirected pain".The body will allow you to cover up or ignore a problem for a while, then it will come back and get your attention in another way (hence "refered pain" - although "pulse rate" is not pain, it just the bodies way of getting your attention - i.e. it is trying to look after itself). There is a reasoned school of thought that and if you keep ignoring all these reminders, the body will keep come back with different ways of attracting your attention, this can result in sudden unexpected health complaints as "organ failures" e.g. diabetes, liver, etc. There are different thoughts, some say it is just luck, others say the "chemical imbalances". Depression :You are at a funeral and missing the dead person, you ARE depressed, but that does not mean you are suffering depession. "a good laugh does you good" - "constant pain and problems gets you down" - "a happy person heals better than a sad person" - QED raise the bodies "happiness levels" through the whole day will result in the body healing quicker. There is no one single answer that fits even 50% of suffers.Additionaly, Chronic Fatigue / Adreanl Fatigue / M.E. / F.M. / Lupus and more, all have a similar syptoms. Also because of the difference in people and their reactions and what the Doctors have come across, there reactions and opinions will vary accordingly.Use your head, do not become a hypocondriac, accept somethings will need to be ignored, but also some things NEED to be watched, and at the end, you could know more than the Doctor who is treating you :)You should find great benefit from adjusting your diet and pacing both your day and your emotions (be a bit clinical - like an Olympic grade athelete has to be).Sometimes after 30 seconds you just have to say "what will be will be, there is nothing more I can do, I did the best I could, with what I knew or was able to do, at that time" - read the words again, it is practical. In "human resources" it is accepted as "the requied standard of dilagence" and also in most religons it is "the desired attainment" - so you can not argue or wonder :)I can highly recommend you check out this web page :-http://www.drlam.com/articles/adrenal_fatigue.aspIt is not perfect for you, but as a single resource, I suspect you will be amazed inside 28 days. The reason it is not perfect is due to the complexity of the health problem, nothing ever will be perfect - we all metabolise diffenently, hence results and reactions willl always vary (e.g. a family can all get the same cold, but react in very different ways).Look after yourself, I do understand your problems as will many others and we all wish you well and the quickest recovery possible (read DR Lam's article).Terry.

  • This sounds like i'm really over simplifying, but could you have low iron levels? It might not fix everything that's going on with you, but I'm a vegetarian, and a few years ago, i had really, really low iron levels. It made it hard to breathe, hard to move, i kept getting shaky and heart palpitations etc etc. So maybe try taking an over the counter iron supplement once a day, or go to teh doctor and ask for a blood test?I hope you're ok!!Kel

  • This sounds like i'm really over simplifying, but could you have low iron levels? ... doctor and ask for a blood test?Hi ally70, I often wonder how you have been getting on.I doubt it is Iron levels, the Iron levels may be out, but I suspect it will be part of the bigger picture, and so if they are got back to the normal, then it will help the body work better and thus recover quicker.Over the past 14 months I have been very badly effected, and in view of what I have additionally learnt, I have added some thoughts. To all who read this comment. A lot of the symptoms relate to Adrenal Fatigue, the following link is not perfect, BUT otherwise it is very comprehnsive ! (I highly recommend it.)http://www.drlam.com/articles/adrenal_fatigue.asp (this is the updated version)This is a "test for symptoms" page.http://www.drlam.com/callpage/adrenalfatiguecallpage.aspONE IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER - it is easy to be wrong, BUT having said that, there are quite a few illness' that have similar symptoms and similar recovery procedures. Similar illness' are C.F.S., A.F., F.M., M.E.,Lupus and many more !Ally70, the tremors and shakes may be related to blood sugar levels, a sort of "quirky hypoglysemia", but not diabetic (perhaps over sensative to blood sugar levels). Also heart rate and more possibly link to moderate / high GI foods (read the above web site). Also "stress" may be agrevating it. Stress is almost everything that you do ! Think for a moment, when you start to read, get up in the morning, eat, etc. your heart rate automatically increases, because there is a "stress on the system", BUT because your system health wise is "below normal" it can not work properley (a clapped out car engine can not go as well as a perfect one, but once reconditioned, it will go just fine again). This is not the best wording, but hopefully it will make you think along the right lines :-So look at everything you do, do it in a calm manner and if you think it is too much, then stop, or rest or ... ensure you stop before you get to your limit. But it is equally important that frequently you go almost to the limit, same as a body builder, by "exercising" they maintain or build up their bodies strength, the same goes for the body, e.g. after drinking alcohol for a while your system gets used to it and can handle greater quantities, the same parallel works for the whole body - and some say even the eyes and reading)So "up to the limit", but NOT "reach the limit" or "go past the limit !"Also you may be unintentionaly over reacting to mental stress' and / or have a health conditions placing stress on your body (well you have several - different sources of PAIN for a start)."Unable to tell if I am hungry or not" - I am too tired to explain fully (this typing is taking a lot out of me, I suffer from C.F.S. amongst other things), ask your Doctor for low dose Omeprazol (or similar if there is no good effect from the Omeprazol), it is often used to cure and prevent stomache ulcers, but can help balance the digestive system and thus hopefully help you out.Bassically, it can get very confusing, but go slowly with sorting problems. The fever you suffer may be either blood sugar levels or related to "a sugar rush" (but not necassarily directly from sugar) or Adrenal or Petuatory or etc. So misdiadnosis is easy !The reason for the above comment is that they are all linked and can thus cause the effect for different reasons."I feel like stoned like high or something like im on drugs or something." this may well be a form of fatigue (i.e. a specific varient of tiredness). I am not sure exactly how it relates to the glands inside the body or what the sequence is. The key words are "FEEL LIKE", not "THE SAME AS".Possibly because your body is good at repairing it's self AND also because there is a "waiting time" before they do the test, your body has chance to balance itself (i.e. recover), also because your body is good at repairing / balancing, if your test were done "mid exercise", the results might not be as high as in other people. Also possibly because your body has been used to all these problems, it is now used to having to do all the constant corrections / balancing and this will also affect the results.A recovery system may well be best to based on "getting the system balanced so that it can repair itself".Ally70, from previous, you sound intellegent, hopefully the above and also Dr Lams web site will get you on the road to recovery and comprehension of your health problems - also in the end you may know more than your Doctor does :-)Sincerest and kindest wishesTerry
