I don't understand why I'm getting these deep breaths, I'm only 17? Occasionaly, I have to take long and deep breaths every 3 minutes and if I don't, I feel like I'm going to pass out? I just need some help. I can't turn to anyone right now?

I can hardly fall asleep, unless I breath really deep, and able to breath for at least 3 minutes, then able to fall asleep quickly.

  • It's sounds like you have asthma. This is what I get too. I'm only 19 and I've been having this since I was 10. Mine isn't so bad, and is only brought on by the season change or intense running... stuff like that. Is there any pollen around your home? Maybe like a tree orchard or farm of sometime? Even a dairy. Also, second hand smoke can make it very difficult to breath and will set of asthma just like THAT. Actually ANY kind of smoke would. I'm not positive but how you described everything, it sounds just like me and I was diagnosed with asthma. How you have to take a deep breath every 3 minutes and how it's hard to fall asleep. Here is something you could try in the mean time...Hot black Coffee... I know it sounds silly, but it's an old home remedy for emergencies when there is nothing else. I guess the hot and caffeine open up your air way making it better somehow. Another, I just read in readers digest is Rosemary is suppose to take down any swelling in your chest... said it was recommended for asthmatics. Maybe you could find a rosemary tea. Anyhow, I absolutely feel for you, it's very stressful and scary when you cannot breath correctly. If you do not feel better you should do what you can to see a doctor. I know I should, but don't have med insurance.... I need my albueterol spray!!! But, I'm ok now. Hope you get better! Ps - If you do not think it is asthma it could be caused by extreme allergy or lots of stress. Just sit back and relax, tell yourself that you are ok, and you're doing fine... and don't forget to drink lots of water and don't get into too cold of air! A warm steamy shower might help. Hope I helped. A
