I admit I was an alcoholic for many years. I quit cold turkey in February '07 and ended up in the ER after having a siezure. I was diagnosed with neuropathy, and not having insurance at the time received no treatment. After I was laid off this August, I got on AHCCCS. My Dr. refered me to a neurologist, who just happened to be the one who diagnosed me at the hospital. After he ran many painful tests, he concluded that I had nerve damage, but since it was 'self induced', he wouldn't prescribe me anything for the pain. He also said that the pain would be a reminder of the mistakes I'd made.(He is a well respected Neurologist in AZ) I told him about all the B vitamins I take, the foods I've been eating and asked if there was anything else I could do just to help me get through everyday. He sais 'yes, quit drinking" which I did over 2 years ago. My own doctor won't give me anything based on the neurologists report. Even after I told him how my husband has to stand in the shower with me everyday to make sure I don't fall, and has to walk me to the bathroom in the middle of the night because I can barely stand. If I had diabetes, I would have all the help in the world. I'm so close to crawl back into a bottle just to make the pain stop. Can any one help me? Please?Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
