Some weird TIA, seizure, or what?

I witnessed someone the other day who had trouble speaking with their own voice, but successfully used an imaginary friend's voice to discuss a problem they were stressed about. After a minute or so, the person's own speech came back slowly, but was slurred, and then after a couple minutes they could use their own voice again.

What causes this? Nerves? A TIA? A seizure?
