Hi im new here and i joined because i need some serious help. I kno thers a lot about numbness and tingly feelings on these forums but nothing fits what happens to me.

Everytime im uncomfortable or hot, i get a sudden rush of pins and needles in my back and my neck. then the feeling gets to my front chest/neck area and i just have to WAIT till it goes away. i start scratching my back and front and jump around AND go ballistic because i dont kno what else to do and it seems to help. It even happens randomly sometimes, even if im not uncomfy or hot. it scares me sometimes because the feeling is so, so painful and unbearable. This happens to A LOT in the winter, indoors and outdoors. less in the summer, but still happens.

what do i do:confused: ?? what is it? does it have a name?

  • I have exactly the same thing.Took me a lot of time to find someone on the web with the same symptoms. Those annoying painful pins you mean, like someone is stabbing you with glass from the inside. They always happen when I increase muscle tension, with all sorts of things, not just stress, also exercising (running and lifting weights), laughing, eating spicy food sometimes, sex, putting pressure on the toilet even. I just feel them coming. Starts as a warm sensation (like i'm about to break a sweat from the muscle tension), then the painful pins and needles start (sometimes on my back, sometimes they start on my neck or head), and start to spread pretty rapidly across my body, mostly the top of my head, my forehead, jaw, neck and back. When I loosen my muscles, so lessen the tension, it goes away really fast. Like in seconds. I must say I have had stress / anxiety for the last 4 years, and since then I haven't really done much in activities. Stopped with my studies, so I've been sitting a lot since then, behind the computer or the tv, because of slight agoraphobia I haven't gone out much. I eat really healthy though, drink 8 glasses of water each day, eat enough fruit and vegetables, no salt, no alcohol, etc. But now that I want to exercise again, I always need to stop because of those pins & needles coming up after a few minutes. I'm thinking of a pinched nerve, I do have lots of muscle pains/cramps and general tension throughout the day. I have had the first pins since 2006 (when I was laughing at a friends joke : /), and since then it happened randomly during the sorts of activities I described. When I went to an osteopath who 'cracked' my neck and back they've been away for months, so long even that I wasn't thinking about it anymore. However, lately, they've returned. I'd like to know when you get these pains, and if they go away so rapidly as well? Do they also happen when you exercise, or get really angry for example? Do you sit a lot as well? Have or had anxiety issues? Muscle pains/cramps? I have cut down on computer hours a lot, from 6-8 hours a day to 2-4 hours (divided in 2, 3 times a day). But even after only 1 hour, 1 and a half, I feel vague, and my muscles ache / cramp. So I'm thinking of quitting with it completely for the time being. I really need to start exercising, since this is necessary a lot of things in my case. But with these pins coming up all the time, I can't really do it, so if anyone has advice, has his / her own experiences with this, please let me / us know!

  • hi everyone, I got these exact symptoms for the first time today. I know I have a very high pain threshold but these 'pins' that start in my back go up to my scalp and are sometimes around my abdomen are excruciating. It started when i was getting out of my car and i thought I might have had pinched a nerve but then they came on during the day constantly and I am now exhausted from my body trying to fight the pain.Did anyone ever find out what was wrong? I'm from New Zealand and my mum is a nurse and she thought it may have been an allergic reaction but I was unsure of that diagnosis. Please reply, I want them to go
