I suffer from occipital neuralgia since I had a suboccipital craniectomy in 2003. The pain begins in the left side of my neck at the base of my skull and is very severe lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. I am desperate to find some relief from this problem. If anyone out there has had this problem or knows anything about treating it, I would be so grateful for any help I can get.

Thanks,

ladyligon

I had a suboccipital craniectomy in 2004 for a brain tumor and ever since then I have had like a tightness or stiffness in my neck, always aching, nagging pain .I have TN, but out of no where I will wake up with what I used to call "cluster" headaches-- and they last for days, usually 2-3, sometimes a week to fully go away, and nothing helps besides sleep, and lately massages . But SO many drs have not mentioned ON. I found this on my own, I'm thinking about asking about it. I started researching because it wasn't fitting a typical headache pattern so I kept looking and looking for something else because I need to learn how to get a better handle on it as well. They mention it doesn't interfere with your everyday life, well when these episodes happen, I can't move outta bed for at least a day sometimes 2. But the massages have helped greatly I've tried acupuncture chiropractor, some even recommend some vitamin combinations…and have meds if it's really bad . I hope this helps and no you're not alone . The doctors have a tendency to look at you/make you feel like that . Only think you can do is find the right dr... had to go through 4 for my TN diagnosis Hang in there, and I hope it will get easier for you, and hopefully this gave you some ideas—if you haven’t already tried them.Best of Luck
