My 15 yr old daughter had two seizures last Sept. At the time she had absolutely NO medical issue. The first one they called a seizure, because she woke up in the middle of the night and did some pretty weird things. The next morning she didnt remember doing any of it and had memory lose. Later that same day, she called me from school complaining of a really bad headache. I picked her up from school and took her to urgent care. They checked her neurological functions and they were normal. Sent us home with Motrin. She felt better later that night. She did homework and everything. The next morning, I found her unresponsive and making gurgling sounds. I couldnt wake her up at all. Paramedics arrived and she went into a full grand mal seizure. They had to intubate her at the hospital because the seizures wouldnt stop. They gave her all kind of meds and ran every test there was(scan, mri, spinal tap, blood eeg,ekg etc). Everything came back neg. She woke up about 24 hrs later. The Dr's couldnt tell me anything. We went home after a 5 day stay. They didnt send us home with seizure meds. No explanation whatsoever. She has never had a head injury. No history of seizures on either family side.

Aug 28 2009, My daughter has another grand mal seizure in her sleep. Not as bad as last seizure. Was taken to ER, but woke after a few hrs. Was given Keppra and sent home. I still havent been given any reason.

After last seizure in Sept, she hadnt complain of any headaches until two days before the Aug 28 one. I live in San Diego, Ca and in need of a GOOD ped neruo. Please help

  • I had a friend when I was the same age and it was the same story. They have come a long way in treating this condition and he is completely off his meds and hasn't had a seizure in years and years. Just a little inspirational message to help you out in your time of worry.

  • This sounds like geopathical illness. There is plenty online regarding this. Doctors do not understand it therefore they say nothing or say that it is all in your head. As parents, we know better. There are ways of helping your children; don't give up! GEOPATHICAL ILLNESS due to Geopathical stress.Peace

  • My wife has been having similar experiences for past few years (since she was about 22). It's the same deal. The "episodes" appear to be seizures, however repeated EEGs show no abnormality. She was placed on Keppra for a few months, however she continued to have episodes. These have increased in severity, duration and frequency (from once every few months to every 1-2 weeks). They now last several days where it seems to get worse at night and milder during the day. Once it clears up, she's a normal person. Every test she's had has came back normal. Her's are also preceded by a headache (although I've often suspected an oncoming episode before she mentioned a headache - leading me to believe that the headache actually occurs WHILE the episode is happening). When the episode is severe enough, she will also lose recollection of the events. One thing to try is to pay special attention to her during "normal" times. See if you notice any abnormal speach or facial expressions w/o the other symptoms. When my wife's episodes are "mild" many times the only thing I notice is a slight slur, some short term memory loss (like repeated conversations) and maybe an odd look in her eyes. Your daughter's episodes may be happening more often than you think. Her illness started before we moved into our current home...so geopathic stress = no.

  • Hello. This message is for neice 33. I realize it has been 1 1/2 years now since your message was posted. How is your daughter doing now? Have you found a good pediatric neurologist. My cousin, who lives in Murrieta, has a teen daughter who started having seizures and headaches a few weeks ago, and she now has a constant tremor in her arm. The doctors thus far have no diagnosis, similar to your situation. My cousin is searching for a reputable ped neurologist. Any advice that I can pass along would be much appreciated. Thank You. • I was just wondering if your daughter had the Gardasil vaccine. My daughter did and she has been sick ever since that day, June of 09. You can see many stories identical to yours on truthaboutgardasil.org My daughter is on that site too. The moderators are just moms who were in your shoes and they are the ones who created this site to find others because there just seem to be no answers in the modern medical world.
