Dizzy....problems with flashing lights...."normal" tests!!! I'm a 34 yo female. My "episodes" started in Oct. 2001. I blacked out at work (was an ER nurse at the time). When I came to I felt like I had drank a 6-pack...I was soooo dizzy and had this awful headache (I still have a daily headache which fluctuates in intensity since that day). I have problems with falshing lights/strobe lights too. I've been tested for seizures..but the DR's said they were not seizures. My speech would get garbled, my eyes seem to "roam around"...not foll back, but just zip around in all directions haphazardly, my hands would clench up and curl up along with my arms. My legs get weak and can sometimes ***k or spasm up. The "episodes" can be "minor" (just a little garbled speech or weak hand grasp) to "severe" (with all the symptoms I've described). They can last from a few hours to several days. I've had a few "atypical" tests...my Vitamin B12 is very high...1600 (normal is 300-900) and they found a 2mm "spot" in my right midbrain and something else in the parrahippocampal area in the brain. I've got slightly enlarged lymph nodes in my neck (seen on a scan), I've been lactating since this all started (no BCP's/ not preg), and nodules on my thyroid. All of this stuff may or may not be related...not sure. The only thing that seems to "help" is Benadryl, which seems to cause "shocks" throughout my body to "reset" the nervous system when I do get an "episode". Also, with the MRI's I have problems with the gadalidium contrast...it triggers off "episodes" too. If you have any thoughts regarding this, I'd love to hear them, since this is getting "old" really quick...been going on for 5 years for no reason. I was fine before all of this. It just came on. UGGH!

  • Have you been to a Rheumatologist? It sounds like it could be and immune disorder. I was just diagnosed with lupus April 2007. I have had severe headaches, severe dizziness, along with tremors and hearing problems. It started in January of that year being diagnosed with a cotton wool spot in the back of my eye and some high blood tests. I was referred to a Rheumatologist who ran more blood tests and a biopsy. She put me on steroids and immune suppressents, and now I feel awsome. You should really look into this. Even if you have already, rheumatology is a really soft science, and some doctors are less likely to give out medicine. GO TO MORE THAN ONE DOCTOR. I went to a rhumatologist first that said I was just stressed out. My doctor said that If I had waited, I could have had organ damage. You Don't have to live with this!

  • I had similar sympoms and it turned to be low blood sugar. I went through numerous tests with nothing found until my Mom brought me some donuts. I guess I had a high/low blood sugar condition. A normal diet seemed to be th etrick (no empty calories like sugar glazed donuts).
