I came back from a Florida vacation about 8 wks ago. I had an ache in my lower, left back - L4, L5 area. I began to receive adjustments and the back felt better, but I have the below symptoms. (I had injured my back Nov.2007, same area, so I thought it was just re-aggravated.)
I have had a numb left calf for 6-7 weeks now. The numbness goes from just below the back of my knee to just above my ankle. The skin is very sensitive to touch. Accompanying the calf, I had tingling & numbness in my pinky and ring finger of my left hand. Immediately, the medical dr was thinking carpal tunnel for my hands.
I had an MRI done on L4, L5 @ 5 weeks ago, and was told it was negative. I took a CD of it to the chiro and was told that L4 may have a bulging disc. I have been receiving regular adjustments from a chiro and have seen the medical dr twice. I had an EMG done 3-4 wks ago which came back positive for carpal tunnel syndrome....so, that explains my numb hands, but not my numb calf. (My right hand began feeling numb within one week of my left, but the calf numbness has been continuous.)
Within the past week, my right ankle & heel became numb and now my left knee is numb. My legs ache if I wear any type of heel, and if I wear shoes with backs on them, such as tennis shoes. The foot numbness has been continuous since onset.
Two weeks ago, itchy palms and bottom of my feet woke me up in the middle of the night. Bactine brought relief and I have not had it that bad since, however my palms itched slightly 1 or 2 times since.
I had bloodwork done this week, which came back negative for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), B-12 deficiency, and levels of white & red blood cells are normal. Cholesterol is 169, blood sugar is 89, BP is 121/84 (which was elevated due to coffee and bad news of a death) - my usual BP is 110/70. My weight is 118# and I was working out just about every day until everything began to numb or tingle. I feel weaker and have no idea what is going on or what to do.
Any suggestions? I thought of MS - and will discuss at my next med. dr. visit, scheduled for Tuesday....
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
