Continual abdominal and lower back tightness

Has anyone seen anything like this before? I have been trying to determine what has happened to me after suffering an involuntary reflex, caused by an unforeseen touch of the head of the penis, which put me in a sitting position while lying in bed. There have been numerous scans and MRI's of the abdomen, complete spine and complete gastro studies that didn't reveal any problem and no one could tell me what is causing the problem of tightness in the lower back, abdomen (particularly the upper abdomen) and the sensation of something pulling deep in the abdomen near the groin toward the left side and toward the left leg. I was an independent C-5 incomplete quadriplegic, using a wheelchair for many years with all unusable muscles being flaccid and without spasms until suffering this reflex. The tightness is completely restrictive and with the passage of time its' been worse. Any suggestions as to what this debilitating problem could be or any advice as to where I should specifically seek help to resolve the problem will be truly appreciated.

  • I have to imagine this is a form of spasticity, something that would be common after spinal cord injury.Medications like baclofen and zanaflex can be helpful; in refractory cases, a small pump can be implanted that puts baclofen directly into the spinal canal, and that procedure usually works very well.
