For those of you who've never heard of epiglottitis as was the case with myself before I got it, you should read this. It is a life-threatening illness in which you epiglottitis (the flap of skin that covers your throat when you eat or drink) gets very swollen and cuts off air to your lungs. It can happen overnight as it did with me. I started to scratch my throat a lot around 9pm-by 11pm was in extreme pain as was the case all night-by 7am the next morning my throat was so tight I had trouble breathing which is when my husband called the ambulence. X-rays confirmed the swollen epiglottis and I was immediately admitted to the hospital and hooked up to steroids and antibiotics. Never ignore extreme conditions like that-people that do, die.....after I got home from the hospital I noticed my throat never felt the same-I found a growth on my uvula-which I must have gotten in the hospital or from the illness--the ent said it was a viral wart and he removed it-that was 2 weeks ago-the uvuls is healed but my throat when I swallow doesn't feel right-it feels like there is something still in my throat-I'm going to see a differnt ent in a few days because now my right ear is hurting-I will never neglect symptoms even if the first ent says he doesn't see anything-then why does it feel weird in my throat all the time everyday-has to be something there-cannot be my imagination because before the epiglottitis/viral wart-all in the last month--i was fine! curios to see who else has the same symptoms.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
