Ok i think im going crazy here, i cannot take this any more for the past months i have been having excruciating random pain in the back of my neck/shoulders and it just BURNS constant and will not go away no matter if i rest or heat or cold or even Tylenol 3 it will last for a random amount of time and jjust eases away but its horrible and its random and i don't know what it is or why, i also started getting the same pain in my lower back and it covers my entire back sometimes and just feels like fire its the same type of pain but i never have it in both places at the same time it seems to go from the neck to the back and stay in the back for a little while then when it leaves the back it will go back to the neck almost like the next day. Its really bizarre. Right now my back pain has been gone for a day after bothering me for about 2 weeks and now my neck is starting to get really sore and my back is twitching right now. Any ideas? Im terrified im going to have some crazy condition like Fibro or MS.

  • Hi, I am a physical therapist. Shoulder blade, mid back, and neck pain is all related to the neck itself. The neck can refer pain into the mid back and is a common source of pain. I would suggest using ice (no heat) to the lower neck region, 10 minutes a few times a day. If you can, try taking anti-inflammatory medication (like advil). For your lower back, your description is pretty general. Check out this site and see if your symptoms match any of the descriptions than follow the treatment recommendations: http://www.joint-pain-solutions.com/Lower-back-pain.html Your symptoms an be related specifically orthopedic causes so don't get too far ahead of yourself with the idea you have fibro. Consider seeing a good orthopedic doctor and physical therapist if it continues. ~JTrempe PT, ATC
