Weak legs and paralysis in arm

My uncle has gone through a lot of tests and the doctors don't know what is wrong with him. He's had blood tests, MRIs, and one of the last tests were on his spinal fluid. I think they originally thought he had MS but have ruled that out so now they are wanting to send him to a infectious disease specialist. The muscle in his arm feels like jelly. He also said it is very painful (like the bone is broken). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
