Hi everyone

i have just been told that i have very low levels of Vitamin D - my value is 11 IU

i have been having VERY PAINFUL bones and muscles for about 1.5 weeks and on friday i started high dosages of Vitamin D - prescribed by my Dr (50 000IU / week) but i wanted to know if anyone knows how long it would take for the pain to stop?

also could there be any underlying conditions that would have caused my Vitamin D deficiency?

thanks for your time and help - i really appreciate it...
xoxo

  • Hi Forza I was told I am low in vitamin D too lately and I don't know how low. I have to go see my doctor on Tuesday. I don't know what have caused your very low level of vitamin D but my guess is that you live in Northern countries and maybe don't consume enough milk and food containing the vit D. You probably know also that vit D and calcium/magnesium work all together. If I were you, I would check my calcium magnesium phosphates etc. What I know is that I have been feeling depressed lately and I was glad to learn that a low level of vit D makes us feel the blues among other symptoms like having bone aching. I don't know if you are a woman and what is your age but women have to be careful to osteoporosis. On the absorption of vit D, I heard that the darker people are the harder it is for them to absorb sunlight so you may have to look into that too. No sun screen for at least half hour/hour if you are dark skinned. If you are white/lighter skinned you need about 20 minutes of no sunscreen. That's what I read on NaturalNews. It was an article from a doctor who did a lot of researches on vit D. He says that the cosmetic industry doesn't tell us we need to be without sun creams for some time.
