I have grade 2 (on a scale of 1-4) spondylisthesis L5/S1. I use a inversion table 2x day which does give some relief. After being on my feet for several hours I have such horrible, severe foot pain I really want to cry or cut off my feet, at night leg cramps can be just as bad. I also have been taking Alpha Lipoic Acid for the foot nuropathy, really not sure if it is working anymore. Any suggestion for the foot pain and calf muscle cramps. Also coming to terms with having physical limitations. Appreciate any suggestions. Thank You

  • Have you tried physical therapy for core exercises and/or lumbosacral stabilization? PT can stregnthen the muscles around the spondylolisthesis and therefore lessen the pain. As far as the leg pain/cramps if you have a pinched L5 nerve root which you most likely do there are neuromodulator medications that your physician can give you to help that are similar to alpha lipoic acid but work differently as they are not supplements. And the final resort would be surgery likely involving a L5-S1 fusion. If you haven't seen an orthopedic spine surgeon I would go there next, they can get you set up with PT and the medications and give you options on surgery if it comes down to that.
