Wrists, elbows, hips, knees, & ankles... Too young for this!
I am 29 years old. I have a strange problem with my joints. The only ones I've ever actually injured was one knee (stretched ligaments & soft tissue damage), and one elbow (fractured). My joints do not swell (with the exception of the one knee), and they do not get warm. They just ache and snap. My wrist pain is usually brought on by lifting something with a little weight to it (does not have to be heavy). But I can't explain the elbows, ankles, and hips... Sometimes even my fingers get this same feeling. Like it's right in the tendons, or in the bones... Yes, it can keep me awake at night, especially when I have it in my hips (can't get comfortable...) I am too young to have this kind of problem (in my opinion), so what could be going on??? There are a few other things bothering me as well, but I've dealt with them so long that I've just learned to live with them. Sooooooo tired all the time... I could wear my coat and slippers all day long and be quite comfortable. For whatever reason, I've noticed that my temperature is usually low, and in the evenings, I always have a low-grade fever for a little while. Any ideas?

Me again... Now, my wrist pain is gone (for now). But I can't even brush my teeth or anything because of my right elbow. It constantly aches now and goes down into my wrist, and starting to go into my shoulder. WTH??? It was especially bad at the rink tonight while I was watching the kids skate. I think it was because I was cold.

  • I forgot to mention that I'm fully loaded with allergies of all kinds. And I also have a red rash on my face, that flares and disappears after a few weeks. Dr. said it's rosacea, but I don't have any bumps or pimples. It's on the inner parts of my cheeks, and doesn't quite go over the bridge of my nose. I sometimes get a little of it on my lower forehead as well. I never have it on the end or bottom parts of my nose.

You can google it and see if the pictures seem similar. I'd definitely ask your doctor about lupus.

I think it was because I was cold. Hi!! All I can say is "OMG, ME TOO!!" I am a bit older (just turned 40), but it's been happening for awhile now. ALL of my joints hurt ALL the time! I dislocated both knees earlier in life, and sprained both ankles several times, pretty severely. I fell on my elbow and dislocated it. And my hips get stiff, so stiff I can hardly walk if I sit for too long in one position. In the mornings I feel like a 95 yr. old woman!! I am so stiff and painful that I can hardly even walk. I have horrible, what I think is achilles tendonitis. They just ache constantly, and have hard knots on them. I even have the weird rash thing on my cheeks, right on either side of my nose. Never had that before!!! It just gets real red and flakey. I hate it!! Anyway, I just wanted to say that you aren't alone, I live in this silent ***l too. I don't think anyone around me understands how painful I am all the time. I think my husband thinks I am exaggerating sometimes. I am overweight, and I'm sure that has alot to do with it, I don't know. I'm terrified that I have something really dibilitating like rheumatoid arthritis. I have Kaiser, and I don't know if you know anything about the care they provide, but it sucks BAD!! It's bad quick medicine, designed to see as many patients as possible for the money. I have had a new doctor everytime I go, and have to explain everything again and again, just to get the same treatment, the easy generic ice and stupid brace that doesn't fit or make any difference. I don't know what to do, but I'm sure if I keep going like this I'll be in a wheelchair by 50!!! UGH!!!

  • I have that too and im 23 now. Iv been having it for the past 2-3 years. Iv noticed that it gets worst with inactivity, and when im lying down, especially in my knees. It kind of feels like butterflys in my joints and is very annoying. Iv noticed though that it reduces when i dont smoke for a couple days, or if i stretch and go to the gym, but immediately resurfaces if i dont do that for 2-3 days. =(

  • As I read all these, I realize I am not crazy. I have been fighting joint pain for several years now. I lose more sleep because I am in so much pain. I joined the gym two weeks ago and it has made things worse. My ankles, knees, wrist, back and fingers are hurting now so I can't sleep. I ice and use bio freeze every night. I also take Celebrex daily. It's nice to know I am not alone but it would be nicer to find relief.
