Hi, a couple of weeks ago I noticed my wrist was tender when I used it to do up buttons open jars etc, it had previously been fine, its ached slightly on and off for the last 2 weeks (I have taken painkillers occasionally) today Its actually hurting, quite when ever I use the hand, and its burning slightly when I'm not using it.
The pain seems to be more in the wrist/thumb area and seems to be spreading upto my shoulder.
My shoulder the pain is more of a dull ache.
I'm going the doctors tomorrow, does anyone know what it could be?

  • Hi, I am a physical therapist. I would say that if you are having both wrist and shoulder symptoms I would suspect that you may have a neck related issue. You might not even have any neck symptoms. Watch your posture, apply ice to your neck, and use anti-inflammatory medication. Hopefully when you see your MD you'll get a referral to physical therapy. Good luck. ~JTrempe PT, ATC http://www.joint-pain-solutions.com
