off and on I get a persistant pain underneath my right shoulder blade. It goes on for days(weeks). Presently it appears to be spreading down to my lower left side, right above or around my pelvic bone. Heat sort of helps, but not much. Every once in awhile, not too often I have something like a spasm within my whole rib cage. Seems to be caused by certain 'crunched positions."

  • Hi, I am a physical therapist. Shoulder blade pain is frequently associated with issues with the lower cervical spine (neck). It is unusual that the pain would spred down as far as your pelvis. If you were my patient I would strongly suggest ice and not heat (for info on why visit http://www.joint-pain-solutions.com/ice-therapy.html )and consider icing the lower neck region when your symptoms occur. ~JTrempe PT, ATChttp://www.joint-pain-solutions.com
