I am a 40 year old female. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and bursitis in both hips. I have received steroid injections into my left hip in the past but that was about 4 years ago. I have back pain and basically all the symptoms to go with the fibro. Both have been diagnosed a few years ago. I was in a severe car accident in 1991. I visit my doctor regularly the last time about 2 months ago. My left hip has been inflamed for many months now but not with that much pain. Over the past few days I have developed severe pain in my left hip. The worst of the pain is on the top of my hip and radiates around to my back and to my abdomen area and down the front of my pelvis into the inside of my thigh. I went to the doctor and she gave me medrol for the inflamation. I have an appt with an ortho but not till the 14 of Jan. Tonight the pain is very bad on a scale of 1-10 it is a 10.. My leg nearly went out from underneath me a couple times. The bursitis has never been this bad before and I am not sure what is going on. Anyone who can offer some sort of advice or help it would be great. I am in tears from the pain I have been dealing with chronic pain from arthritis and the fibro but nothing like this. I could really use some advice.

Thank you.
Ann

  • Sometimes hip pain can be caused by misalignment of the saccrum...do youhave a good chiropractor? Also, are you sure that your legs are the same length?Final thought...some food allergies can make pain of arthritis, bursitis and fibromyalgia worse. Have you tried eliminating some foods, such as cheeses, perhaps something you eat a lot of? I am sensitive to a lot of foods, particularly those which may contain antibiotic traces...when I eat cheese my pain factor increases phemonenally...also chicken gives me arthralgia pain for about three days. Some people get more pain when eating acid foods. Hope this helps. Marionstar

Marionstar It is becoming increasingly common to develop autoimmune dysfunction after having a traumatic occurance, like a car accident. With this diagnosis I find that there are often food allergies contributing to symptoms. MarionStar is right on with this thought. Please research a technique called NAET. It can really make a difference. Also try acupuncture. I have several fibro patients and this treatment is the ONLY thing that offers relief. Best wishesDOM

  • Ok thank you for your replies. I do not have a chriroprator, I do not have insurance that covers it, and I am a single mom of three with no extra funds. I was in an accident back in 1990, then in 92 I had thoracic surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm so I have had plenty of trauma to my body. I have not changed my diet at all in the past few years, by this I mean I do not try new things, I cook healthy no frying veggies with every meal etc. I will try to take cheese out of my diet and see what that helps. I am willing to try anything right now, this pain is very intense I really need to get rid of it. I cant function and i am the only adult in the house. I am so sad and in so much pain. This new pain on top of the fibro pain and not sleeping I feel like I am loosing it. I used to go to a chiropractor and it was never mentioned about a leg descrepency, I have also been to a ortho regularly awhile back. Thank you again for your replies if there is anything else you can think of I would really appreciate it. Ann
