Hello everyone, about 19months ago I had carpel tunnel release surgery on both my hands (the open approach not key hole surgery) and for the past 15 months I have had a constant ache in both forearms and hands , It's like muscle fatigue I still work and use my hands as normal but when I try and sleep at night the pain really drives me up the wall. The Doctor says they'll heal but who knows when.
Does anyone know of these or similar symptoms? or what could be the cause of this pain and discomfort?

  • i had carpel tunnel surgery on my left hand 2 times, 10 years apart. the second surgery took about 1 year to recover from. as unexpected as that is - i would still have the surgery again. you could try wearing the braces at night or what has helped me is the new gloves that came out by thermal care for hands. May God bless you and take this pain away from you.

  • Thank you for you're reply, it's now two years since my surgery and I can't help but worry about what the future holds I have been very busy at work and the discomfort of my hands are driving me around the bend. The specialist has told me that I couldn't do any harm by working hard and that they will heal I'd just like to know when , it's anyones guess I suppose but the more people I hear from with similar situations the more I'll get to know.Cheers Mika.;)

  • Your welcome. I have to use my hands and even after both surgeries - I was off to give a conference in New Orleans and the other one I was actually in Houston working. I was getting worried that the 2nd surgery hadn't worked but it had and as much as I did not want to hear "you're 10 years older" - it's the truth on my part. Take care and I hope your pain goes away soon. MiMi
