hello everyone,I hurt my neck at work around 20 years ago.I went to a doctor that said I needed a spinal fusion, being at the time it didnt hurt very much,I didnt have it done, instead I continued to work.Over the years it became more painful and last year it got very bad,now the doctor says I have severe nerve damage, compression on my spinal cord and in the last 6 months I have had severe pain all in my shoulder and going down in my arm and hand.I cant raise my arm up and have trouble dressing now.I also have pain in my lower back in the same side and pain going down my leg.All the pain I have is in the left side, the same side where I hurt my neck.I need to know if anyone ever had these same problems,is it all connected to where I hurt my neck.I need surgery, but have no insurance, applied for medicaid and social security disability and both were denied.please help if you have any information that could help me.I am 56 and female. thanks

I would recommend seeing a physiotherapist if you haven't already for assessment and treatment. It is also generally important with most neck injuries to focus on maintaining optimal posture, or as close to it as you can without increasing symptoms, to minimise stress on the spine and aid healing:Hope that helps and good luck,PhysioAdvisor
