Neck pain won't go away

I've had severe pain in the back and sides of my neck and the back of my head for over a week. I put a heat pad on every day for most of the evening, I take painkillers every 8 hours, and I've tried massage several times but nothing has any effect whatsoever on the pain. I'm pretty sure it's caused by stress, but I can't figure out how to get rid of it.

  • you should try icing it instead of heat;but dont leave the ice on for longer than 20 minutes or so, otherwise it does harm. Also, lay on your back and roll up a towel to place under your neck... this may help.
