I have had muscles going into lumps from head to toe, which needs muscle therapy to rub them out -sometimes daily in order to move about. Been on pain tablets now for nearly two years. Just had muscle biopsy that shows Athrophy but don't know how I got it. Consultant says it was from steroids but I have never taken steroids. Had EMG - showed slightly abnormal. Am now taking Duloxotine which is helping the pain. I cannot ever get a full nights sleep, only an hour or two at a time, even with sleeping tablets. Can anyone put a name on this condition? Thank you - would so appreciate any information I can get. M:confused:

Whenever I walked it felt like bone rubbing on bone, then the pain went down into my groin muscles. Over time, the pain has gone down my thighs and now it is in my knee which causes pain in my lower leg. All my pain is from the waist down. I think it must be my muscles that lump up and I have to work them out if I can. I've had x-rays, MRI's, blood tests and am now waiting to see a specialist but I have to wait until May. I can't walk far because it causes too much pain. So much for exercize at all. I don't sleep well either and nothing I've used to sleep helps either. If I can't tolerate the pain, I take pain pills. I've also been prescribed muscle relaxers but they don't always work. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm also interested to hear how your symptoms began. Thank you.

Can you tell me how and where in your body the symptoms started? So far, my problem is from the waist down. Thank you!
