For the past 5 yrs I have had gradual muscle atrophy in my left thigh with excruciating pain. Have had numerous tests with no results. The atrophy has been speeding up the last 6 months and the pain is becoming unbearable. I'm just about ready to give up all hope of finding out what is wrong with me. Any help for me?

  • I have had cat scans, x-raysa myleogram, nerve conduction, emg. I can't have an mri because I have clipped aneurysms. next week I am going for another set of cat scans of the pelvis and lumbar spine. If they don't show anything I'll be sent to Phila to a neurologist that specializes in muscular problems.

  • You did not mention Rhumitologist. They can cut out alot of needless test.Have you had blood work done to check for auto immune? Most rhumitologist are also internal medicine Dr.I only no this because i went through many test and many Drs. before finding a good one. There are so many blood test that normal Drs.do not run.I went through 10 years of pain and just now am getting to the bottom of my problem. They know it is an auto immune..It is very difficult to figure this out.Do you have any spinal problems?Any past surgerys.I hope you can find out somthing soon.I no in my case i wish i had started with the blood work. They had to send my blood to a special lab in california,i am in florida.I had the same test done local and they showed nothing.I think you would be ok if you were at major hospital.Good luck.

  • Thank you for your recomendations. I forgot that I was to a Rheumatologist last year. Blood work showed nothing. I am hoping that the Cat scans show nothing because then I will be sent to Phila to see a specialist who knows what to look for. Thanks again.

  • you can't have an MRI done because of clipped anyeurisms? what does that mean?maybe you need some amino acids to ramp up your muscle tissue rebuilding, try leucine, isoleucine, or valine, or cysteine. there's some that come bundled into chewable tablets containing alot of important amino acids.
