I've been told I've got weak muscles in my legs, the back ones are very weak and o i walk with the front ones. This means i get loads of cramps and muscle pains in my legs and back, my knee 'creaks' when i bend it, going upstairs is difficult and it generally sucks. The undeveloped muscle theory seems to fit as i also have double vision, which is caused by weakened muscles in my eyes.

About a year ago I was going to physio for my legs and to the orthoptist for my eyes and i had loads of exercises designed to strengthen the muscles. It all got better after about 2 months so i was taken off their lists.

BUT its got worse again. And now my eyesight blurs out a lot when i stand up and it really hurts my eyes. My legs are getting worse and even spasming sometimes. If its just muscle weakness, shouldnt it have gotten better because of the exercises?? Any ideas??

  • Hi Poppy,You sound like you may have a connective tissue disorder, you have similar problems to myself, but I am not saying you have the same thing as there is not enough detail in you post. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Type III. For more info visit www.ednf.org there are six types of EDS, each very different from the next. EDS is still a very unknown and misdiagnosed condition. But there are many connective tissue disorders, this is a place you can make a start and get some leads. Both my Knees crackle and crunch and are pretty much useless now for going up stairs of getting up, my eyesight went from perfect to needing classes within two weeks when I was about 13.I was doing well with pilates (which I highly recommend you try, it has literally changed my life) for two years, but recently have taken a nose dive, like yourself. My muscles don’t develop, even with testosterone shots, as I may have a inherited mutant gene that prevents one of the proteins from being produced. My lean muscle is wasting away but I am on the trail of some things that could halt and reverse this. I remain hopeful. But get on to this now or you will have a lot of running around to do, and the doctors won’t do it for you, take it from someone who has been begging doctors for help for nearly 16 years and only now have got where I have doing it all on my own steam with some help from friends who are no part whatsoever of the medical profession. All the best.Agape, searchingsam
