after walking a very energenic large and untrained puppy a couple of months ago, I started experiencing a lot of pain when doing certain movements - such as lifting my hand to the steering wheel, etc. That has slowly improved, but I still can't rotate my outstretched arm. The farthest I can do is to have my thumb straight up and I can't bring my elbow to the midline of my body - much pain and just won't go. I periodically will get a really sharp pain in my shoulder when I roll on it at night or move it a certain way. I also will have some snapping in the shoulder joint. When walking, my arms feels like it is dragging down. ANy ideas? No redness or swelling.

On line research may help with some mucles excercies. But should probally go ahead and see a doc about this. And make sure your taking asprin cause it has anti-inflamatory in it.

  • Hi, I am a physical therapist. Obviously the best thing is to get an evaluation of your shoulder buy by your description I would say you might have the beginnings of frozen shoulder. The shoulder can become inflammed either from trauma or from some unknown cause. This inflammation leads to pain and limited mobility. To learn more about this condition and see if it matches your symptoms, visit: http://www.joint-pain-solutions.com/adhesive-capsulitis.html Hope this helps. ~JTrempe PT, ATC

  • Dear JTremp,I had went to the site, you provided, which gave me insight on some things but I wanted to share with you my symptons, everything I can think of so that maybe you or someone could help. I of course have no idea what is wrong except the fact that it hurts. Right now I am waiting on the scheduleing of a MRI but as it looks may be a while, but I am also worried of a mis-diagnoses. I am not looking for a diagnoses on here but I do not want to be ignorant .With that said I will think of everything I can and maybe you or some one can point me into the right direction. It has been a total of 6 months since I got hurt. I was picking up a 20pd bag of dog food, then as I raised up I tossed it to a co-worker. I bent back over to pick up another one and stopped, I raised up with such pain in right side of my neck, down the front and back of my shoulder, My right arm was very heavy and hurting in such a degree I'm still unsure of the right words to explain it. Massive may come close. I was dizzy and light headed almost to the point of blacking out. My chest and my upper back hurt so bad it felt lke a tight rubber band was on me. It was very hard to breath . I held my arm close to my body trying to catch my breath. It was like this for days.......When I went to the doctor they gave me some anti-inflamitory, once I had finished them the pain had subsided a little but not enough. Ranking at the time of injury my pain was a 10, after I finished the pills my pain was a 8. Ranking my pain on a everyday average would be no less than 7. I would go off the charts if we ranked the agurvation of this. MY DESCRIPTION #1 When I extend my arm out and role my hand forward my shoulder hurts and becomes instantly weak. #2 Sometimes my whole arm will go numb. #3 Tightness in right shoulder an beginning of the right side of neck. #4 Shoulder pops. #5 Heat seems to help with the pain. #6 Shoulder blade is very tender and sore. #7 Under arm is tender. #8 At times the pain in my shoulder is so intense I have to stop what I'm doing, and hold my shoulder. #9 Doing things that calls for no shoulder movement but hand movement such as typing aggrevates and causes pain to my shoulder. #10 Elbow is tender. #11 My husband will massage my neck, shoulder, and arm. My neck will stop hurting but it makes my shoulder and arm hurt worse. #12 Some nights I don't get much sleep because of pain. #13 When waking up to my arm in pain I have to literally role out of bed. It is like my whole arm is broken,, literally. #14 When waking up to arm in pain, my shoulder blade and right side of chest hurts just as much. #15 It hurts and is very difficult to extend my arm out in front of me and then pick something up or do something. #16 Writing, typing, swinging my arm while walking,, driving, well everything hurts my shoulder an arm. Thats bout all I can think of right now.And one more thing it has taken over a hour to type this, because I kept having to stop on the count of my arm.I hope this helps and in no way do I mean to discredit your last post. Hoping for your replySpringSummers
