Knee smaller than other

I have one knee that is smaller than the other. It's not visually smaller but when wearing snug pants it is obvious the one knee is smaller. The bigger knee is my dominant leg (I am left handed). Perhaps that is why? I do not regularly exercise, but regardless, shouldn't both of my knees be the same size?
