6 days ago I was playing soccer and took a hard kick to the inside side of my shin. It hurt, but I get injured pretty frequently and I finished the game. On the way home it started to hurt more and more, and the swelling was pretty impressive. It hurt to walk at that point, and sleeping was tough because I couldn't find a good position. I figured it was just a bad bruise. However, here we are 6 days later and it still hurts and has a localized lump. I figure that I would not be able to walk if it was broken though, much less finish the game, right?!
What worries me is the lump and lasting pain. Thoughts on the chances of a break? If anything, I suppose it could be a bone chip or very small fracture - does anyone know if they do anything directly for those, or is it just a case of rest and NSAIDS?
I know that the obvious way to get this diagnosed for sure is to go get xrays, but right now it is pretty much impossible for me to get away from work, and if I do leave and it's just a bruise I'm going to have some problems. I appreciate any help! I've attached a pic of the injury in case it helps.
