I have pain that began in the bottom of my heel, runs up into the ankle, knee, thigh and hip and is only on the right side of my body. I also have nerve pains in my groin, vagina and right abdomen area. My M.D. does not seem interested in helping me. I have seen a neurologist, had MRI of the head and neck, but no diagnosis has been given. What type of doctor should I see next? Should I find another Neurologist or see a Orthopedic doc? Please help as this has been going on for 2 years and I can barely walk now.

  • I'm not a doctor, but I have done some amateur research esp on leg pain, for my mom who has been a chronic sufferer of leg pain...(you can find inputs from my research here - http://www.billdoll.com/dir/health/q/leg_pain.html Based on what you have mentioned, I'm reasonably certain that the type of doctor you have to visit (again) is a neurologist...because your symptoms really appear to be connected to nerves... The page I have mentioned above provides info on other types of doctors you could consider based on the symptoms...check it out when time permits...remove the tags...I am not able to remove them for some reason! I hope this has been of help All the best for a speedy recovery NS

  • Thanks for your input. I went to an ortho surgeon who ran cat scans & myleograms and discovered degenerative disk disease and a pinched nerve in my lower back. Not the best problem, but glad it wasn't more serious!

  • Hi,My name is Brenda and I have something similiar to you. You may want to try this web site for answers http://www.caudaequina.org/issues.htmlNot many people have heard of this syndrome, in fact a lot of doctors don't know about it, I had to tell my doctor about it. Good luck.Brenda

If your symptoms are only on your right side, and seem to affect the entire chain from your feet to your abdomen, then the source may very well be beginning at your Lumbar Spine (low back), OR it could be originating from your feet.More than likely, it is your low back. I would recommend seeing a Neuro Specialist and have them take both x-rays and MRI of your Lumbar Spine. For the meanwhile, try getting in a pool and see if this alleviates your symptoms. Don't swim - just walk in chest depth water and wade. The pressure should alleviate from wherever the pressure is exerting and causing pain, and you should move and feel better.~Chris

  • I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis 2 months ago after a bowel infection (food poisoning during chrstmas holiday in egypt) I thought ReA was supposed to clear up between 3 and 12 months, by the looks of things it doesn't.Inflammation first started in my heel then big toes, both knees, slightly in fingers and now top of neck, giving me awful head pain and numb arm wen wake up.Iv'e had 3 steriod injections which give you false hope as the pain goes only to coe back in about 3 days.I take 3 diclofenac a day1 tablet to minimise bleeding due to diclofenac4 Sulfasalazine (started 1 a day increased to 4 over a month) only been on sulf a 5 weeks, no side effects but no ease of pain yet.I take upto 8 tramadol a day for pain, these stop the pain but are very strong they make me really dizzy and I find it hard to sleep. Is there anyone out here whos symptoms of ReA have gone, need lots of hope.I have been sick from work for almost 3 months, I'm a 32 year old teacher and find it impossible to teach at moment with pain or feeling I get from painkillers. I was a fitness fanatic too, went to the gym 5 times a week loved it, I haven't been able to go for 3 months, really frustrating, I really want to hear from someone with hope please.I am HLAB27 positive and my protein levels are around 150 but have been as high as 190.
