Elbow Condition

I am a 21 year old male. My whole life I haven't been able to straighten my arms all the way, and my elbows turned out in their natural position. When looking at pictures it looks just like Gunstock Deformity. I've never broken my arm or any bone for that matter, and my sister's arms are the same way so it must be some kind of genetic deformity. Does anyone have any ideas? Oh, and it's not like they just don't want to bend all the way or anything...they literally won't...but yeah my sister's arms are exactly the same. I just want to know what it is, or its cause because my wife says it makes me look "standoffish" and "aggressive" because of the weird positioning of my arms and I don't have money right now for doctors (and the one's my mom took me to when I was little said we'd grow out of it, but we never did). Thanks!

  • Hi, I am a physical therapist. This issue is generally congenital or something you are born with. Unfortunately there isn't anything that sould be done medically about it unless it leads to other issues. Hope this helps.
