Hey, so ill try to keep this as quick as possible.

I'm 17 years old and am just curious as to what it is that i have. I'm very skinny, very flexible, double jointed in some bones and can pop my hips out. i know other people can do this but it is usually a little movement under the skin. With me it is very visible. You can see a bone like shape come out of my hip while making a clunking noise. Doctors have been amazed. Most of them had never seen or heard of it before. Doctors that had, had never seen it this extreme. I have been to the many doctors including the childrens hospital. I have been x-rayed and there is no ware on my bones. It has been suggested that i have hypermobility and it had also been suggested that i have popping hip syndrome. My Nanna and my father are both very skinny. Apparently my Nanna could do it when she was younger as well. She can not show anyone though because she has had hip replacements. I have trouble putting on muscle. I have hardly any muscle as it is. I do suffer some pain escpecially after walking. I continuosly get told from different people that how i stand or how i sit is not normal. I experienced growing pains as a child which brought me alot of tears. This was only in the legs. My parents took me to the doctors alot to ask them about it. Though it was labled as merely growing pains. I still get them now but not as severe. I have no idea what it is that i have and i was wondering if anyone out there had any idea?

Thankyou

  • You probably have a form of congenital hip dysplasia...either that, or a shallow acetabulum (hip socket).
