I have random chronic muscle inflammation throughout my entire body. It is worse after periods of inactivity. i.e;sleeping, sitting on couch. Sometimes my ankles and feet hurt so bad I can barely walk. Other times, it could be my thigh, back, a wrist - there doesn't seem to be any reason for where it occurs. I am being treated for unknown elbow pain with PT, but am not getting better. When the muscles are really inflammed you can see how swollen they are. That is when they are very tender and cannot be touched. Any ideas? Anything would be so helpful. I am 36 year old mom and feel like I am 80 somedays.

  • Thank you so much for your reply. I just received all my blood work back and am negative for lupus, lymes, thryroid, arthritis, etc. What kind of doctor did you see to receive your diagnosis for chronic muscle inflammation? I am seeing a Rheumatologist in a month. I am not sure if I should see a Neurologist also. Guess I will try one at a time and see what happens. Hope your medicine helps you. God bless and thanks again.

  • I am sorry to hear about your cond. I am 44, I have, and am still going thru the kind of pain that you are. My pain and stiffness started about 20 yrs ago and has grown worse as i have gotten older. I have had 6 MRI's in the past 10 years as well as seen many docs. The way that i can best explain the way i feel most days are like falling off a 10 story building and then living, getting up and walking off in the pain and soreness that it would bring...I have been labeled with fibro. Just a name for something they cant find. its is real bad at times then somedays i will almost think i am better. I keep myself in shape and the last 2 years have been walking at least 1 mile a day as well as working out with weights. Its not easy to make this a goal but i had to do something. At least now when i am sore i have reason from working out. This has helped me and i am doing better than i was before. Good Luck

  • Hello. I am 43 male that has had very similar chronic muscle pain/cramping/inflammation throughout my hips, back, and neck. As many of you have mentioned, you have had MRI's, CAT Scans, x-ray's, blood work, trigger point injections, etc., with out any clear cut answer for the cause. I have been going through this for about 15 years and it is getting worse and worse as I get older. I have been in the best shape of my life (a top triathlete and long distance swimmer) to my current state of a dad not doing much of anything (because of my worsening symptoms) except playing golf in pain.I don't have any answers for any of you. I am still trying to figure it out, along with the numerous doctors, therapist, etc. I have told them all that I would have no problem being a guinea pig for anything that would be considered cutting edge to get to the root of the problem. Unfortunately, no takers. If anyone can shed some light on the subject I am willing to listen. Please contact me off of this site at rghwtrswmr@hotmail.com.Thank you.

  • I can TOTALLY relate to what you have been going through. After many doctors and still miserable a girlfriend of mine told me about a fish oil product that was not like anything on the market and it would not interfere with my other meds. What the heck............I was desperate!Well girl, let me tell you that I have been on it 2 months and almost completely pain free! No kidding! The product attacks inflammation, not covering up the symptoms. I have shared it with my parents for their arthritis and they are on it, I share it with anyone in pain!Anyhow, if you are interested, here is the link where I buy it on the web.You can get the free bottle first and try it for a month, I think they charge you $6.95 for the shipping only for that month. I think I pay $48 a month for it, I have it on autoship............I would pay $200 a month to feel the way I do now! LOL...................anyhow, you can get the free bottle and sign up for the autoship and if in one month you do not like it (you will) then cancel it. Also, the bottle says take 2 a day, I took 6 to start to get it in my system! I know people who have Crons Disease taking 15 a day! Again, no side affects.Well, I hope this info has helped you some, and I hope you will be like me..........free of pain! ***smile***Email me anytime with questions:Take care!

  • As a person who has this condition some of you might want to check out polymyositis and dermatomyositis. Rare disease. It took 7 doctors and 14 months to get a diagnosis for me. Most time CK level is high but it can be normal. Only way to know for sure is muscle biospy. Unable to raise hands over head is one of the ways you can tell. Magnesium is a great help to those with muscle pain and cramps. Hope this might help someone.

  • I am a 26 year old male but i feel like im on the verge of death sometimes. I should be fit, health full of energy and alive. But my muscle pain is stopping me from having a normal life. I can no longer brush my teeth or hold my 1 yr old nephew without feeling excruciating pain. I try to fight it but its too much sometimes. Like someone above mentioned my symptoms are worse when i do nothing or am inactive. At its worse i feel pain chewing. I have taken all sorts of painkillers and after having a E.M.G mumscle inflammation was detected and now im in for a possible muscle biopsy. If you can provide any cures please let me know at jav22@hotmail.com......Thank You

  • Have had same symptoms with muscle weakness. Unable to go up stairs or lift foot. Difficulty in getting into car. Can't raise arms up or lift anything. Finally Doctor had a muscle bio done and that determined I had polymyositis.A rare disease. Doctor(Rheumatologist) put me on Prednesone and Methotrexate. Began to see improvement after about 5 months and have been improving every since. I now am pain free and able to walk up stairs and lift again. Hope this helps.

  • DJR - I am also a 36 year old mom and have had problems with serious stiffness and inflammation in my knees and hips if I sat too long in one position. I would literally need help getting up and it would take some five minutes to get back walking normally. A co-worker of mine told me about a whole food nutritional supplement in juice form, that he sold. He wanted me to join the network and be a distributor of it and having been burned in another mlm, I didn't even give it a chance. Over six months he bugged me- so I finally caved and went to a meeting to learn about the product. Well, I was hooked right away simply because of the science behind the product and how good it tasted. I started it right away and within 2 weeks my ailments were bothering me less and less until I hardly even noticed - maybe around 1 1/2 months or 4 bottles-they were gone! I was so impressed, I became a distributer and now get my product at cost +more and more money coming in by the month...Anyway, It's all about the juice. It's incredible. Please, learn about it. You won't be sorry!

  • I have had similar symptoms for over 35 years and I am now 59 years old and the swelling, burning and pain is throughout my entire body and is getting worse in severity. I have seen every kind of doctor, had every type of test possible and tried many kinds of non conventional medical treatments such as chiro, acupuncture, active release therapy, different types of massage, chelation; you name it and I'/ve tried it. The website for the fish oil you use was deleted in your message. Can you please let me know. Thankyou.

  • I realise this sounds silly but several friends in serious pain have now (eventually) tried it, and it WORKED, perfectly. At least make an experiment of about 2 weeks and see for yourself. The trick was to stop eating all (all) red meat, chicken and bread (yeast). This includes bread and pizza that claim to contain no yeast. Also no alcohol, as yeast is involved. Please note that meat, bread and red wine are very basic to our traditions here in South Africa, and we'll have it again as soon as we can dare. We often sample - then stop again, when after a day the pain comes. These things nowadays seem to produce poison in us, leading to an immune system reaction. Some can handle it but some get symptoms, in various places (such as bleeding haemorrhoids as well). The meat problem might have to do with how they feed and medicate the animals. Some have found that eggs and milk are okay, some not. It seems a natural mechanism keeps some poison /meds out of eggs and milk. Some can only use sterile (long-life) milk.Without red meat, chicken and bread, all you will miss is vitamin B12 and Omega 3. Protein and the rest of it are best supplied by veggies in any case. Every day take Vitamin-C 1000 mg (slow release). Remember flax seed oil (Omega 3,6,9) and extra salmon oil (Omega 3) in caps each day - very important for healing. Not essential, but to recover faster, also don't take: Ceylon tea, coffee, heated oil (only unheated extra virgin olive oil), carbonated drinks (Coca-Cola etc), and processed foods (containing hydroginated vegetable oil, additives etc). Tuna fish from a tin is okay, also tinned baked beans etc. Oats and fruit (and pure fruit juice) you can have. Cook the veggies, no higher temperatures than cooking and also not raw. But - these are optional measures.Something else: do ask your doctors to seriously test for Rickettsia (tick fever). It can behave like this, there are many kinds, and you don't need to be bitten to get it.

  • I think all the posts recommending diet and nutritional supplementation are right on - I think this would be very helpful. Chronic inflammation is often due to an autoimmune reaction, which is to say the brain and nervous system is having a continuing negative response - usually to an allergen. People can develop allergies over time, and each time you eat a particular food your brain signals for an autoimmune, or hyperimmune response. There is a huge proliferation in autoimmune diseases lately, and I think most Western medical approaches leave much to be desired. I think undiagnosed allergies can be a factor in this. To the poster who is taking methotrexate and steroids: I am glad they have helped you, but please know that methotrexate is incredibly toxic(may be carcinogenic) and steroids just ravage your immune system further. There is another approach, and it is called NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique). Please research this treatment - it is revolutionary! Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for chronic diseases. But if you give your body the tools it needs, you can get yourself back to health. There are many paths to healing - please look into alternatives to the Western allopathic medicine merry-go-round of specialist after specialist after specialist. Best wishesDOM

  • "Mommy cat" in another post referred to www.ahummingbirdsguide.com about ME. You should read it, perhaps you recognise symptoms. I responded as follows:Thank you for this reference, www.ahummingbirdsguide.com/whatisme.htm especially. It is serious, permanent, and there is no immunity or cure for it. Yet we still appeal to the enemy for help? What will help is to accept how profoundly evil governments, pharmaceutical companies, and certain groups of doctors can be. We need to wake up not only to ME, but also to the fact that the whole body is a projection from several other energy bodies we have, like those Russian puppets that fit into each other. First these get ill, for "higher psychological" reasons, then it shows up in the body as we know it - where it is very real and can kill. There have always been many therapists who can work with our energy bodies, thereby curing the body we know. Pray to find one, then "meet God half way" by actively looking for some in your area.

  • I'm doing a search about all over body inflammation due to chronic pain, and other symptoms that I won't go into. I'm really not looking for help as I am information for possible causes, since the medical community hasn't really been able to help me. My latest emerg visit was due to highly inflamed lungs where I was coughing up phlegm and having problems catching my breath. But that's not why I'm posting. I am Canadian, and I get really miffed when our medical system is held up as a "shining" example, because it's really broken. Ask any Canadian. Our doctors are paid by the visit and/or procedure, so many have a tendency to make the diagnostic and treatment route take as long and require as many visits as they can. As the biblical quote goes "Want of money is the root of all evil". In our case we have a system chronically short of funds even though on a per capita basis we are spending a fair chunk of change. After servicing our national/provincial debts the medical system is the place where the next largest amount of our taxes go.But again I digress. My reason for posting? I've experienced 25 years of an slowly worsening condition, and a medical system that is so frustrating when attempting to get help for anything more complicated then a broken bone, it's asinine. I've gone long periods without any contact with the "God complex" driven doctors which seem to make up the majority of the profession. So I have as well tried other avenues for relief. This leaves me and any one else looking for help any where they can, open to some pretty shady situations. Believe me your pain and suffering may be intense, but there's still some SOB that will try to take advantage of that. All of us are inundated with messages of how things can be made better if we only do the following . I've tried so many of these so called miracle methods, with very little relief. In fact, no word of a lie, if instead of throwing them out after no results I'd saved them and did it all today I'm sure I'd exceed my one bag limit by an extra full trash bag, maybe two.So do yourself a favor, if some one posts a miracle drug/herb/device on an unmoderated forum, with a testimonial of an amazing cure if you only do this ask yourself a couple of questions.1. If its such a great cure why are they even posting? Their cured! They have no reason to be on a forum dealing with something that they no longer have unless they're really bored or an extra "nice" person " (don't believe the nice part).2. So due to number 1, what could they possible have to gain by posting the message?Be very glad that the e-mail address is no longer valid, and the web site isn't there. You've just escaped having some one go threw your wallet. It's called Forum spamming/fishing and it doesn't matter what forum you go to some one will be selling something, most often a total rip off. So if some one posts a hot stock tip, a money saving tip, or a miracle cure, no matter how much hope it gives you use the logical side of your brain. If this seems cynical take it from some one who's been there, don't believe that it's really just that easy.Sorry, because it isn't. Lord above I wish it was, but it just ain't so!

  • Sadly, this is true. But ask yourself, if you were to see someone in trouble and you were fairly sure about a solution - wouldn't you at least be tempted to inform them? In many European communities this is just not done, you are not supposed to talk to strangers. Here in South Africa our faces have been rubbed into our unspeakable errors, so some at least now try a different way. I'm often stopped in a grocery store (by ordinary citizens) and told a product in my hand is no good, I should try another specific one - and it has always turned out to be the truth. Or, that a packaging of two is for some reason cheaper than a single item. It has often helped me, and I do the same.I used to be very sick and went on other forums (there are many similar). On this one I don't have my own thread, as I'm well at present. Nor is my advice of that much use. I've learnt much more here from others. Such as learning that your Canadian system is broken. Over here everyone wants to emigrate there, or preferably to the USA, yet they don't know what diseases and Social Services laws to expect. Also, advising is an addiction. I get a physical pain on the heart when I don't have advice for someone who is sick. I'm supposed to be working instead, time is money. Well, for me, flushing that idea down the pipe was the start of getting well. Nobody leaves this planet alive anyway. We might as well do whatever we like until then. But it is so overwhelming. So many posts, so many in trouble here with our ZA social healthcare system from ***l. If after months we can get an appointment for diagnosis, the operation's waiting time can be so many years that the patient will certainly be dead. Meanwhile our "government" spends millions to buy arms and to entertain themselves. This is what makes some people criminals, while others try more to help each other. One old woman found a burglar in her kitchen. She advised him on his health, gave him meds and Reiki, they cried and prayed together, and she hired him to improve her burglar bars, as he was disdainful of how easily he had broken them. How could I know such people and not try to do my bit?The main thing you can try first is to eliminate all meat and chicken. Nobody knows why, but it works. It also seems that SOY is a problem: www.westonaprice.org/soy/complaints.html whole page (!) and http://thyroid.about.com/cs/soyinfo/a/soy.htm .. There is a lot of soy in commercial bread and many other products.

I have nothing to gain from posting here, and my husband is always nagging me "Where's your paycheck?":p . But if I can help one person on their rode to healing, than it is worth it to me. I guess what I gain from posting is a feeling that perhaps I have helped someone. I am aware there are plenty of those who think I am talking bunk, but ah well. Certainly can't help anyone. I also have tried many different treatments, and know the ones that have worked for me (acupuncture, chiro, NAET), so I will continue to offer these as viable treatments in the future, and maybe someone else will try these things, and maybe not. Everyone is different. But I hope to never be so cynical.Best wishesDOM
